It's pretty good, except it has no 16GB(8GB is too little, 32GB is a lot), and the CHROME back-- can't it be the iPad or iPhone back? GPS would've been nice for navigation and stuff. And, really? A 0.7MP camera? My dumbphone 5 years ago had an 1.3MP camera, except it didn't take HD videos.

All I was wanting was the retina display, A4 chip, and new design. And we got all of that plus two cameras, 802.11 n!!!, and gyro.

I'm very happy to say the least :)

The hole on the left of the dock connector is that a microphone or a speaker hole?

.7 mp still camera?

Seriously? I have an old dead flip phone in a drawer at home that can out perform the new iPod Touch's still camera. People have been waiting years, and that's it? No thanks Steve, that's beyond dumb.

That is the earphone/mic jack. The touch has always had the bottom earphone jack there
Edit
OOPs I was looking on the right. Did not even see that slot but it has to be a speaker slot. The question is if there is a mike there too for FaceTime.

This release has actually swayed me to the decision to buy a Touch. I was originally on the fence, trying to decide between the new iPhone 4 and the new Touch 4. With the issues with the phone and no white phone in sight, I've decided just to get the Touch and wait for the iPhone 5. :)

They had to do something to keep the cost down while upgrading the CPU/screen/gyro sensor/and adding cameras.

In Canada the Sell iPhones.

IP4 Starts at $659 - 32G = $779.

Touch4: starts at $249 - 32G = $319

So chopping $400+ out of the Phone some corners need to be cut, but overall I don't think anyone would hesitate to pay the extra to get a touch 4, over an older model.

Hell yeah! And I laughed out loud when he showed it was thinner than the previous model. Suck on that, everyone who said they'd have to make it thicker for 2 cameras!

And the A4 intrigues my inner nerd to no end. I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Apple surprised us with this new touch, I just hope it got an aluminum enclosure. But everything that I really wanted was on it except the 3.2MP cam, which isn't that big of a deal to me anymore.

I think the iPT has come the longest way of all the iPods. Remember when it first came out? The 64 gb iPod touch is probably the best iPod ever made. I have an iPhone 4, so not interested however :p

Can't decide to buy a new iPod touch or to buy a archos 43 or archos 70. Never used a archos or a android device Decisions....

It's not difficult to make it thinner when both cams are very thin sub-megapixel video cams.

Yes I am Happy.

I re-learned today that I want an iPhone 4. :D

But I do NOT want the monthly payment that goes with it.

End result, I bought the second best device on the planet(IMO). I'm happy with the specs. Unless I get a DUD I'm sure that I will be happy.

GIGGIDY!

So what did you buy a palm pre?

I was all ready to buy a new Touch... had my credit card ready.

What I wanted was a retina display, 16gb of storage in the base model, and a decent camera. I assumed that a design change was inevitable, either along the lines of the iPhone 4 or the iPad. Either would have been fine with me. And I had a faint hope of 3G.

So you can see that I was very disappointed.

Too little storage for too much money.

Camera is subpar (I use a still camera far more often than a video camera).

Design is old and stale, and I HATE the chrome back (why bother making it thinner if I have to use a case with it?

So I put my wallet away and hope that the iOS update on the way will fix the fact that my 2nd gen Touch is a laggy nightmare that needs to be rebooted every day in order to function with my car USB connection.

I'm not optimistic.

NO! they cheaped out with the Touch version.
"Retina" display is resolution only - it is not the same screen as the iPhone it's not IPS.
Appears to have a rear mike only which is going to be a problem while holding it and speaking at the front for FaceTime.
Back camera is cheap .7M (VGA) and only works decently as a movie camera.
No GPS which is a badly needed feature in a portable device.
No 3G connectivity which was rumored but dropped
Back material is the old and hated instant scratch polished stainless steel
