Did you really feel the size different was big going from the original SE? I was at apple store recently and when i looked at the 13 mini and the 13, I was a bit shocked at how small the mini was. Such that the 13 didn't feel that big etc.

The thing was holding the new SE at the apple store did not feel that comfortable compared to the 13 mini or the 13.
It's a bit deceiving, if comparing my original SE or even my 4s just with my eyes looking at them the size isn't that much different. It's when you have it in your hand and actually use it is when you really notice.
Granted it's a full screen on the mini but trying to reach the top of the screen isn't possible with my thumb.
Since turning on the reachability setting and the keyboard shift back to being usable one handed and happy that it's portable enough to put in a pocket yet the screen is so much larger.

Can you list from left to right the iphone models? My previous model before the old iphone SE was actually a 4s as well. I assume that is the first one... the second one is the 13 mini. And the last one is the old SE?

Also can someone post a screenshot of the 13 mini next to a 13? Again i was at apple store not long ago and compared them and was surprised how the 13 wasn't as big as what I thought it would be. The 13 mini was a lot smaller than I thought but I didn't play around it that much.

But are you happy with the 13 mini though? Do you feel its a bit too big still? Again i was going to order the 13 mini online but when i went to the apple store and took a look at the 13 mini and the 13 and the new SE, I was shocked how the 13 mini was much smaller than I thought... but also the 13 was not as big as I thought.

But what other phone would you thought about getting then in place of the 13 mini?

But you are telling me you cannot use the 13 mini with just one hand etc? I didn't played around with it that that much but I thought it was just a bit bigger then the old SE.

You are correct. 4s, 13 mini then original SE.
I'm very happy with the mini even though the SE was still usable. I planned to use it until next fall since it will be supported on iOS 15 but decided the 13 mini might be the last real small phone so might as well upgrade.

The only other phone I considered from the 13 mini was the 12 mini but with the improvements the 13 is the better choice.
I do find it is usable one handed now, with the kybd shift can reach everything easily.
With the screen being so much larger than the SE trying to reach the back < was difficult.

Turned on reachability and easy to access the top part of the screen one handed. Hope this helps, I highly recommend the 13 mini.

Thanks for that reply. But you did not consider getting the 13 right? Again my choice right now either the 13 Mini or the 13. I thought i would get the 13 Mini until I saw the 13 was not as big as I thought... and the 13 Mini was a lot smaller than I thought.

Again I would still use my old iphone SE right now if it didn't had battery and lag issues. I mean my programs like youtube keeps on closing etc. Is that normal with old phones with bad batteries?

No problem, I looked at the regular 13 but if that size wasn't a concern I would have gone with the 13 pro. I happen to prefer the smallest size. My real wish is for apple to make a full screen on the original SE but the mini is close enough.
If the size doesn't matter much to you then you should consider the regular 13 or 13 pro.
In fact you should purchase one you think you'll like and give it a try for the 2 weeks, if it doesn't work out then return it for the other.

I doubt that a bad battery would cause those issues, I happened to change the battery on my SE when it hit 88% health but didn't experience lag or apps closing.

About the only thing I don’t like coming from the 12 Mini is the minimum focusing distance on the main camera, it feels quite a bit worse. The image quality itself is a nice upgrade though, so much better in low light environments.

I have a case conundrum. I just ordered a 13 mini because I wanted the smallest phone possible (I was replacing a 2020 SE). But once I put 95% of the cases on it, the SE and 13 mini are the same size, with case. This defeats the purpose of the 13 mini small size. The case in this picture is one of those ultra thin cases

The case on the 13 mini is the apple midnight (black) leather.

Coming from the 12 mini, I can say that the speaker grill appears to attract/accumulate less dust/lint; it is much nicer to swipe down for notif. center with other hand. Battery endurance is noticeably better, I end the day with 35-40% with moderate music (spacial audio w/ AP pro), web surfing, multiple hour long zoom calls. Screen brightness has increased slightly where I can now read the time more comfortably from extreme viewing angles. And obviously the camera... BUT there is an issue that has been bugging me since I discovered it a few weeks ago. Whenever the display turns off, either by proximity sensor during calls or voicemail listening or locking the phone (turn off lock sound), there is a faint pop from what I think is the bottom speaker. I know it's a tiny observation, but my 12 mini never did that. Anyone else having an issue like this? I haven't dropped it and i've tried restarting, toggling mute/sound, passed Apple's sound diagnostic. I'm on 15.1.

Honestly I want a 14 mini. Just because there’s still room for improvement. 6-8 plus owner here, then xs max, the 12 mini and currently 13 mini. Battery life is an improvement definitely over the 12 mini. But it could still improve. 14 mini would be excellent but alas it might not come true.

Just happened to wander into an Apple store yesterday. I was recently given a 4S and although vastly out of date, it's a nice device to hold. Imagine my pleasure in finding the 13 mini! If I had the money, I'd get one for physical look and feel alone.

Had the Original SE at launch, it was 64gb, found it so good that upgraded to a 128gb model as soon as they launched it, keept it until 11 launch, where it's battery was in need of service and it didn't worked as good anymore as I wanted neither supported some new things, so I needed to upgrade to the 11 even if I wanted to stay on the SE. fastfoward 2 years... now in on a 13 mini and loving it, I missed so much the screen size and being able to reach all corners without problems (even thou the mini is slight harder than the SE in this). yes, the 11 was a good phone, but I coudn't get used to the soapbar shape and screensize, also it was 64gb which was pretty constraining to me, and since there is no guarantee that there will be newer minis, I bought the 256gb and pretend to have it for as much time as my old SE.

Does anyone here have any regrets getting the mlni vs not the mini for this model?
I’m on the verge of this thought.

My problems with 12 mini (still actual) is 1) battery 2) heat while normal usage and 3) typos when writing both hands. That still is making me to think about regular 13. I don’t like going bigger to 6,1“ but I just feel that 13 mini will be better, but not as much. Also I will be getting second esim number and I think that even 13 mini will not be going well in longterm future with battery (12 mini has 88% battery health after just one year ?) and dual sim usage. Sadly, Apple stopped making 5,8” iPhone which I loved.

Also on a 12 mini currently, and considering the 13… but every time I pick up my wife’s 12 Pro I realize that I *hate* the 6.1” size. If it was 5.8” it would make the decision much easier, I don’t see why Apple abandoned that size, it would have been perfect with squared off edges.

I had the X and now the 11 Pro
I hope Apple will bring the 5.8 size back, even though I doubt they will

I love mine (coming from a 12 pro). A few weeks into using it, it actually doesn't even feel "mini" any more...I find myself wishing it was even a bit smaller! I do wish there was a "pro mini", but I can't honestly feel I'm missing any pro features. I don't make videos or even take that many pictures and the pro features are mostly camera related. Never really used the LIDAR feature of the 12 pro. So yes, I'm quite happy.

I bought a blue 13 Mini with 256GB on launch day. It is my fourth iPhone since 2013. It is my favorite of the four. It is small, light, easy to pocket, but still with a large enough screen to work with, and just works and feels great. Also, the battery life is surprisingly good, which seems better than my previous Xs, even when that phone was new with a new battery.

Went from 12 pro to 13 mini. Best decision ever. The 13 mini is my favorite iPhone I've ever owned, and I have been upgrading iPhones yearly for a decade. Only with there was a 13 mini pro with promotion, but it's still worth it for the smaller form factor.

I upgrade every year. Spare your economics, I make enough and like the latest.

Do you need validation, then?
Why do you care how others feel about their mini?

You upgrade every year, and like the latest. Okay, so be it. What does it matter then what others opine about their 13 mini?

I like mine. Compared to the 2016 SE I was using previously it's still a little large. I still prefer TouchID over FaceID. But it's otherwise not bad. I like it. I'd recommend it.

So I ordered the iphone 13 as oppose to the mini. Again i was leaning with the mini the whole way but then decided to go with the regular size. My question is... should I have done that or not?

Again, im used to small phones but I ended up ordering the iphone 13 regular size. But if i dont like it, I can go to apple store and return it for the mini and then get the price difference back to my credit card?

Because I thought when i went to apple store last time, the iphone 13 didn't feel as big as i thought it would have. But of course im use to holding the old SE with one hand and typing with one hand etc. Also is the screen size really that big of a difference? Again i had an old iphone SE so size is already small. Is there really a big screen size difference between the iphone 13 vs the mini? Now of course the bigger battery is nice.
