I have an Early 2015 11-inch MacBook Air BTO that I'm still happy with. It is very light and perfect for travel. Battery life is good and it still does everything I need a laptop computer to do so it still serves my purpose... can't ask for anything else :)

I am happy with the MacBook Air m1, and with macOS.

Made the jump from using windows for 20 years. Took me a day to get used to apples way of doing things. And now I am flying on this thing!
multiple desktopscreens , shortcuts, sidecar with the iPad.
I love the whole iCloud synchronization, and the default numbers and pages app are perfect for what I do with it.

Sometimes I need to use the windows computer at my job, and I don’t wanna be that guy, that says : windows is crap compared to macOS, but hell , I said it!

Had a 2011 11", upgraded to an 2017 13" only when it became apparent the 2011 wouldn't be included in OS upgrade, plus I appreciated the larger screen on older eyes. Never considered the 12" MacBook as a replacement, and now its gone and the Air remains.
It does everything I ask of it and it remains a sleek and easily-transportable notebook.

The M1's speed looks appealing, but really, I don't need (versus want) that power for what I do. And when I do eventually upgrade, then I'll end up with whatever is on offer. Providing Apple doesn't try and get rid of the Air (again), and expect us to move either to a low-end Pro or iPad Pro.

More than happy. On my old laptop that dated back to 2014, launching a program for technical analysis of financial markets took six minutes. Then it became so slow I couldn't even visualise prices in real time (order book) so I decided to see the other side of the moon and get an M1 macbook air. I couldn't be happier! Well, it doesn't recognise my old printer (Canon Pixma mp140) and my smart card reader but in this latter case at least I could buy remote digital sign.
This machine is fast (not as someone says, with instant opening of applications) and very nice to look at.

I have been using my new Macbook Air for a couple of days now and I am enjoying it. A couple of beach balls here and there but faster than my previous i7, 16gb, 512 ssd windows laptop. I have been using Windows exclusively since 1998 with Windows 95 and I must say I am glad I made the leap to the mac os.

Incredibly happy. The only con I would say is I find it’s very slow to charge, at least in comparison to the MBP. Otherwise, fantastic laptop!

I have an MBA M1 and love it! I purchased it in Nov 2020, and have had no issues or complaints about it. I would highly recommend this computer!

Have been happy with the last of the pre-butterfly keyboard MacBook Air, which I bought in 2018, but don't have much call to use it at present. Not travelling much these days, I am mainly using a 2009 Mac Mini with a decent sized monitor on my desk. Will likely replace the aged Mini with an M1 iMac sooner or later.

Returning to study next year, so will be using the Air again then.

Very happy with my first MacBook, purchased it to replace a 2017 iMac and also bought an M1 Mini to replace an aging 2011 Mini. Through the Apple Refurbished Store with a veteran discount I paid for both what a new M1 iMac would have cost by itself at full price. Feel like I got a lot more bang for the buck than that just buying a new iMac.

I have owned a few MacBooks, and my last purchase went to my daughter (2015 MBA). My 2011 MBP became my daily user. All very light stuff, mail, you tube and Netflix.

My old MBP was showing its age but it’s upgrades kept it reasonably fast for my requirements. The screen compared to my iPad Pro was shall I say lacking.

Enter my new M1 MBA, screen is a welcome upgrade but not as good as my iPad Pro. Is it fast ? for me the difference is barely noticeable. But that’s the tasks I do.

Yes the OS upgrade is nice but that’s not restricted to M1 machines. Would I recommend this machine ? 50 50 on that.

I got Apple to honour their discount promise and got the max off the retail price. So I’m reasonably happy. The battery life doesn’t seem to be achieving the levels promised but it is certainly improved. The thermal performance is as promoted.

If I had of had a late intel chip MBA the change over would have been a disappointment considering the cost.

My comments refer to my personal use and others will no doubt be aghast at the heritic typing these words.

If you just received the new MacBook Air wait a few days and then check the battery life again. Macs take a while to settle down when brand new with lots of background tasks indexing, computing, and downloading. Depending on your setup and perhaps your internet speed this can take anywhere from several hours to several days.

The other thing to watch is the screen brightness. Any brightness setting above about halfway will reduce your battery significantly. Sometimes that is a trade off you are willing to make but other times long battery life is more important.

So if I’m rocking a 2019 and it’s doing just fine, there’s no real need to upgrade to an M1?

I bought the M1 Air at launch last year after spending maybe 7 or 8 years without a laptop. I'm a writer and I was getting by fine with my desktop PC and an iPad/keyboard combo, but I just could not resist this thing. I've always hated clunky laptops (both in size and system speed) and I could not be happier. I know this is weird but the lack of a fan was one of the biggest factors for me. I love computers that I can't hear. Now I just have to contend with my Dell work laptop randomly whirring throughout the day when I know this laptop exists.

This is my opinion and others will have theirs. If your happy with your MacBook Why change ? If you have cash to spare go and treat yourself.

My requirements don’t need super fast processor performance. My guess is that put a intel MBA next to a M1 model and do basic tasks you may notice the slightest difference.

Had I of had a recent MBA intel chip machine I would have kept the cash in my wallet. But it was a 2011 MBP so I’ve had my money’s worth from it.

Good luck which ever way you choose.

The 2018 Retina MBA was the best laptop I’ve ever had, and my M1 is even better!
My reason for upgrading was simple:

The moment the general public understands what a monumental leap the M1 machines are, used values of 2018/2019 models were going to tank.

I got the new M1 on Black Friday and sold my old 2018 while resale was very strong. The upgrade costed me $130. For which I got:

- The new keyboard
- P3 Display with True Tone
- Staggering performance!
- A fanless machine
- 18hr battery life!

(These are all things you will benefit from on a daily basis.)

Best upgrade ever! If you haven’t already, get the M1 MBA.

I'm pretty happy with the Air, but I've been trying to actually use the laptop and not another keyboard that I have, and I need to get used to this. I feel like I keep making silly errors because I'm not placing the fingers in the correct location.

I am afraid of SSD problems etc which is why I got Apple Care. I hope they'll cover me if something should happen.

Also, it's good for software development. Even 8GB of RAM is great.

You are covered with AppleCare.

The SSD problem wasn't a universal problem. It appears to have affected a very small group of people. A few members have reported that 11.4 fixed the problem.
