I have the 2020 i3 model got it during amazons deal days for $849 in the fall..i kinda wish I would’ve waited as the m1 came out a month later and Amazon didn’t give the upgrade to the i5… but otherwise I love it and do not regret my purchase

I had the 2015 i5 MBA and switched it out for the M1... not because there was anything wrong but because the M1 battery life is just incredible. I have a 2019 13" MBP for work but I still prefer either of the MBAs as the battery life is superior, the fans are quieter, and overall it just seems speedier for what I do.

I have the 2020 Macbook Air i3 and now 2 months later, I'm kinda disappointed of about not getting the M1 for the same price. The issue was pretty simple - in my local store, they only had the 2020 models (both Air's and Pro's) and for the M1 they said that I would need to wait about a month and a half. Despite this, I'm pretty happy it depends on performance - well, kinda. The i3 is really made for basic tasks and light usage, which in my case is acceptable, since I'm doing mainly web browsing, watching YouTube, and talk to my friends over iMessage and Messenger. In terms of battery life - really depends on the usage, I got times when my battery lasts 7 to 8h with heavy usage (at the office) and times when the battery drops super fast. It is what it is, I'm happy that I have a computer synched perfectly with my iPhone and my Watch.

I will start saying that in my country Apple is not quite loved because of the high prices especially when it comes to laptops. My first Apple experience was with iPhone 8 Plus a few years ago, then a MacBook Pro Mid 2015 which my boss gave to me to develop some iOS apps.

The whole experience of the Apple ecosystem is great ! The MacBook Pro had a wonderful screen with great colours, keyboard and everything seemed great about it. Except for the display problem with oleophobic coating getting off.

Then, I decided that I need for myself a new notebook, I looked but I couldn't find anything that's worth the money for like 700 euros, I found a Lenovo Thinkpad 15 with i7 11th gen, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB NVMe storage but the screen, keyboard, the trackpad couldn't match anything that Apple has so I went on OLX (some sort of craiglist) and found a brand new MacBook Air base configuration for 915 euros and I asked the seller if he can get it down to 850 euros and said yes, so I bought it, he cut off the seal when I was there and never felt this type of excitement for a really long time.

So after less than 24 hours, I just love this MacBook, the battery life just keeps going, they are a lot of apps which are compatible with the M1's architecture, the screen is much better, the speakers also. I just a great package for anyone who wants a fast, cheap laptop.

I was happy with my 2011 MBP 15.
I was not happy with the replacement 2016 MBP 13.
I am happy again with the 2017 MacBook Air.

I hope to be happy again with a new Apple computer in 2023 or whenever software support for this computer stops.

A lot of users are happy with the current M1 MBA and a lot of people came up with a previous model released not too long ago feeling short missed of a release, you gotta know that every Mac released from Apple goes through an expectation of quality that is brought to customers. Just cause performance is leveraged differently with the Mac product line, that doesn't mean that you're getting outed with a different experience from Apple if you didn't so. We know intel Macs will do just fine with next years to come and it wouldn't make a difference between performance or differences between MBAs released

Cheers

More and more impressed with the performance of my M1 MBA each day. Great performing laptop and performs impressively as a desktop docked to my big monitor and peripherals (ethernet, SSD for TimeMachine, external speakers, 4K webcam, etc.).

I find myself going to my big desktop PC less and less for when I need to 'spread out' with a bunch of windows, etc. (connected to same display).

I have been very happy with my M1 MBA purchase. Got one refurbished from the Apple Store and have been very impressed. Really enjoy this new keyboard, much quieter compared to my late 2013 MBP. Thin, light and great battery help since I just started graduate school.

Funny enough, I decided to jump on the train late since I saw the upcoming Air was going to be white bezels and keys. Think that would bother me over time so I jumped on a refurbished 512/16 for under $1300. Can't go wrong.

Very good price.

For it's time period, I think it's the single best tech I've ever owned, and I'd say the same of the value proposition it offers. 1399 is right in line with competing laptops, which usually offer newer designs that I'm partial to but poorer displays. But internally? Nothing else comes close (yet).

2nd place to AirPods pro for a good 6 months to a year.

My only quibbles are
1. i'd like an updated design with a larger screen in the same body.
2. I do strangely miss my 2020 (Spring) 10th Gen Macbook Pro's keyboard and trackpad. The trackpad was not only larger but gave off more feedback, and the keys... That MBP had the best keyboard I've ever used. This is a second, I'm wondering if the QC was poor and I ought to replace some keys.

but again overall this solved the issue I've had for the last half decade: garbage-tier computer battery life, throttling, poor multitask performance. It's the best of iOS but... it's unix compliant down to the terminal.

I'm still happy with my 2014 Macbook Air and a great form factor for travel! Recently I upgraded the dying OEM 128GB SSD to a PCIE NVMe 512Gb blade drive that is like 3x faster than stock, so I can stretch this puppy for a few more years hopefully. Makes my 2014 Air responsive again with the new blade drive. I plan to also swap the internal battery with a Japanese battery cell type to keep it going longer without AC power until I see a M series MacBook Air that brings back Magsafe and a SD card slot (2 of which I can't live without).

Good news or rumors whichever it is that the next generation M series Macbook Air will hopefully come with them!

I have had my M1 MBA since release day last year. I have always bought MacBook Pro 15” in the past, and this Macbook Air replaced a 2016 MBP, which is the only Apple laptop that I did not really like ( noisy fan and I hated the Touch Bar). The M1 MBA has been amazing. I have got used to the smaller screen, love the battery life and it’s twice as fast as the MBP that it replaced, all with no fan noise at all. Love it.

If I could get the M series in an 11 or 12" MacBook, I would be in Mac heaven.

The M1 MBA is the best $1k I have ever spend on a Mac.

Performance, sound, battery life and build quality are ok beside smaller issues.
What I am not comfortable with, is the keyboard, but to be honest, I have never been a friend of Apples laptop keyboards.
I think the keyboard of my 3 year old business laptop, a Microsoft Surface Book 2, is much better.
The 13" size is new to me, as I always had 15" devices. I guess, I would have preferred 14" if it would have been available e.g. on the MBP.
For private use (as intended) its ok, but for professional use, I would always choose a larger display (15" or 16").

Been using the base M1 MBA for a bit over a week since my Asus G14 has been at Asus' repair depot since April 20th (!) and I needed a laptop last week when out of town. I'd like to possibly run a single VM for work and store my client files locally, so I too just snagged a silver 8c/8c/512/16 for $1229 from the refurbished shop. Delivers tomorrow. Will sell the base MBA locally.

Fantastic laptop, really enjoy it as well as the silver color.

I never owned a MacBook Air until a couple months ago when I bought an M1 MacBook Air. When the original MacBook Air came out in early 2008, it was designed as a premium ultraportable laptop, being the thinnest notebook they ever made, and being noticeably underpowered compared to the other Mac laptops on the market at the time (it was really meant for doing web browsing, typing documents and spreadsheets, online chatting and other tasks that weren't processor or RAM-heavy). Of course, once Apple discontinued the white polycarbonate MacBook, the Air ended up becoming Apple's entry-level line of MacBooks, and even educational institutions would by quantities of them for students the way they did with the iBooks and polycarbonate MacBooks! And the MacBook Air also got a bit more powerful and full-featured over time, to the point where once the Retina models were introduced you could even edit 1080 HD video on them decently, using Final Cut Pro X no less!

Of course, I sprung for the M1 MacBook Air, the silver model with 8-core graphics and 512 GB SSD with the memory configured to 16 GB, because with the introduction of the M1 chip, the MacBook Airs were now almost as powerful as the 13" M1 chip MacBook Pros, and while it's even lighter and thinner than the early MacBook Airs were, it's also a lot more powerful and is a great entry-level Mac laptop that fills the void the iBook and polycarbonate MacBook left (especially since before I got the Air, the Mac laptop I was using when on the go and such was a late 2009 polycarbonate white MacBook.) Just look at how much the MacBook Air has evolved!

I was always intrigued with the thinness of the MacBook Air way back in 09'

Im super happy with my M1 MacBook Air that I have today :)

Go Apple
Well as someone who had a 2013 MacBook Air I've been in love with the thin "portable" design for EVER. Then I upgrade to a 2016 MacBook Pro (with TouchBar) and have used that until I got this M1 Air last week. And yes, definitively yes I'm super happy with this MacBook. It crushes every task I've thrown at it, and I do a lot of code compiling and running a LOT of stuff at once, and this silent, fan-less design has destroyed my MacBook Pro in every metric. Heck I've even gone 3 (almost 4) days on one charge and I consistently used it those 3 days. Performance per-watt on this chip is nothing to joke about and this platform will definitely last for many years into the future.

I didn't know that I'd need more than 256 gb honestly. I wish I chose either the 512 gb or the 1 tb option because I'm constantly deleting stuff on my m1 air. Still a beast though!

Understandably. Just Universal binary makes every app almost double the size. I went with 1TB and thought it to be overkill without bootcamp, but are already using half of it.

I too have an Early 2015 13" MacBook Air. I do wish it was a little larger, and with USB B C/Thunderbolt connections.

Besides that, I do like it. Just earlier this week I spoke with my CFO about purchasing an M1 MBP 13" for me. The ball is in her court, so, we will see

I think the 2015 models had the best keyboard. I have a early 2015 11" MBA (still looks brand new) I use every night with pleasure.

I am happy with the MacBook Air m1, and with macOS.

Made the jump from using windows for 20 years. Took me a day to get used to apples way of doing things. And now I am flying on this thing!
multiple desktopscreens , shortcuts, sidecar with the iPad.
I love the whole iCloud synchronization, and the default numbers and pages app are perfect for what I do with it.

Sometimes I need to use the windows computer at my job, and I don’t wanna be that guy, that says : windows is crap compared to macOS, but hell , I said it!
I have been a Windows user since version 3 (dos before that). In Dec 2019 I bought a 27" 5K i9 iMac as my home desktop and also had a windows laptop from work. As it turns out I LOVED the MacOS and barely used my homebuilt Windows desktop even though it remained very functional. I retired a few months ago the work laptop was no longer part of my line up. I decided that I wanted to add a laptop back in the mix. Kept the iMac and picked up the 8Gb/256G MBA. It is an amazing machine. Was not convinced that 8Gb of RAM was enough but so far this thing is a little screamer.

2013 11-inch Air with 256GB SSD. I use it for hours every day. Still just as happy with it as the day I bought it. No regrets whatsoever. Runs Big Sur like a champ. 8 years in and still running strong with rock-solid reliability.

This particular Air is too old to run the new OS Monterey but, in all honesty, I'm not sure how much I care about that. I don't see myself replacing the Air for some time yet, considering how well it works for what I do.
