I'm a vegan. Eat every 2 hours, drink about 2 litres of water a day. Drink Green Tea, White tea everyday. Don't drink soda or coffee. I tend to eat mostly organic. Never eat sugar, no preservatives. I drink red wine sometimes.

I don't exercise a lot but I do 30 push ups when I wake up and do weights sometimes. I'm 6' and about 11 1/2 stone. I feel great and haven't been sick since I went vegan and cut out sugar. I also don't have allergy problems like I used to.

On the whole I feel great mentally and physically. Milk is the devil.

Yes and no.

I'm 43, usually work-stressed and I take tablets every day that have side-effects like being prone to bouts of weeping and they also stress my liver.

I've had surgery three times in the last 18 months and will be having more. I try to eat healthily but am prone to lapses in discipline on that count. I don't drink that much alcohol or coffee but would like to lose about 5-6kgs. I walk a lot too.

I always feel best if I get an early night and a decent amount of sleep. But I get by...

Never take your health for granted, particularly your mental health.

This might sound like preaching but I've suffered from depression, anxiety of all sorts and since being vegan, eating only natural food, no sugar, no coffee all these problems have gone. I feel much better mentally. I honestly think animal products (especially milk) are really bad for you. I also think natural foods are amazing.

I juice every morning and the feeling afterwards is amazing.

If anyone wants any advice regarding what to eat and cut out of their diet please PM. I'd be happy to help anyone and suggest some good books also.

Generally I eat fairly well, but I'm not as active as I should be. I could stand to lose about 5-10 pounds.

I am fairly fit and healthy. I don't drink or smoke and I have lost 50 pounds. I go to 4x a week and live essentially on dairy and whole grain carbs and feel great. Take that no carb no dairy diets! I do eat junk at times but the excersise I do combats it. I also eat little red meat just because I don't really like it that much. I do love a juicy steak now and then :D I also stay far away from soy and any products with sacrin. If I'm going to have something sugary I'd rather the real thing!

Yes. I don't eat red meat, eat organic food when I can, and almost never eat fast food. (Well, I have had it a few times in my life... but don't eat it more than a few times a year.) Lots of legumes, whole grains, and vegetables. Very limited dairy products - and I use soymilk on my cereal.

Oh, I know I sound so proud of myself. I feel a lot better when I eat like that, though. I also exercise quite a bit - lots of hiking and whatnot.

And I try to drink a glass of red wine at least every few days. Very important, that.

I'd consider myself to be healthy, although I would never take my health for granted.

I eat well, lots of fruit and veg, pasta, fibre, water, etc. Plus the occasional biscuit with a cup of tea or a pizza as a 'treat'.

I have never smoked or tried any 'recreational' drugs. I drink very little alcohol - the odd glass of wine now and again with a meal, or a can of lager whilst watching the football on TV.

I go to the gym three times a week and play indoor football once or twice (if the people I play with are short on numbers) a week. I try to go surfing whenever I can (but it's a two hour drive away and it's usually raining so I make lot's of excuses not to go!)

Mentally? I think I'm OK. I'm very rarely stressed by work, friends or family. I do sometimes have my 'black' days when I can't bare to be around people, but who doesn't?

I'm very healthy. I'm late 30s, female.

I eat very well -- no red meat, nothing artificial, lots of organic products, very little sugar, very little fat. I eat mostly dairy, fruits & veggies, whole grain bread, low-fat cheeses. Drink not-from-concentrate fruit juices diluted with water.
Eat mostly protein and veggies (e.g., lean chicken with salad; salmon with veggies, etc). I don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, no drugs, 1 coffee/day max., and sleep 8 hrs/day. Look young for my age, am a size XXS, have a toned body and still have my high school weight of 95 lbs without trying very hard. I just like being healthy.

However, I don't exercise as much as I should. I do some running, swimming, elliptical exerciser, and a lot of hiking, but not on a regular basis -- sometimes don't exercise for a week, then exercise everyday, so I don't have any kind of exercise schedule, which is probably bad.

But overall I'd say I'm very healthy.

I'm a high schooler who sits at his computer all day, but I manage to stay between underweight and average weight, probably because I never eat fast food. I should probably start exercising soon.

Well my New Year's resolution was to eat healthier and not to snack. I am ticking to it so healthy - ish but getting healthier now. It also helps now that i have a dog. Regular walkies for me.

Am I healthy? Well, like most of the respondents so far, I'd say yes and no.

In terms of eating? *looks down at the mcdonalds food sitting in front of him* probably not, though I have cut back on fast food significantly (used to eat it almost every day, now i eat it just a few times a week). when I have time to cook at home, then I do eat well (lots of chicken and fish).

I don't smoke, and I only drink a glass or two a day of wine/beer--2-3 days a week, that is.

I exercise 5-6 days a week (and on some of those days, twice a day), so I'd say i'm doing pretty well in that regard.

Course, I have high cholesterol (partly from the fast food, I'm sure, but partly cause every male in my family has high cholesterol) and am on antidepressants. I do take a low-dose aspirin daily as well as a multi-vitamin and glucosamine (since lifting tends to be hard on the joints).

As for the BMI--it has it's uses. It's come into favor largely because it's a relational number comparing your weight to your height. And since different heights can acceptably carry different weights (ie someone who's 5'4" who weighs 150lbs vs someone 6' at that weight), it gives a better generalized picture of a person than their weight alone does. Of course, we all know it's drawback is that it still doesn't take into account % lean mass (or % bodyfat if you prefer it that way) so that it is notoriously inaccurate when dealing with bodybuilders and athletes, but it serves pretty well for the general population.

Are you healthy?

As my Doc once said "Your weight is good. That is if you were at least 12" taller!" Just kidding.

Finally got my blood pressure under control. Thanks to my Doc and modern medicine.

I started scuba diving again. One beach dive off Redondo Beach made me realize that I just wasn't in the condition that I needed to be in order to survive a 200 yard swim while lugging 70lbs of gear, otherwise I'd end up sleeping with the fishes, let alone swimming with them.

So I joined the local gym and have lost about 20lbs. Thank G-d I'm finally getting into reasonably good shape. It was a lot easier when I was 21. But still, my Doc is thrilled with the results. So eating reasonably well (not too much junk food) and exercising has paid excellent dividends for me. It hasn't been easy but it sure is worth it.

other than being significantly overweight + associated issues i am in OK shape. no smoking, very rarely drinking. the problem with me is threefold:

1. i am a good looking fat guy so the pressure to get thinner is offset by my relative cuteness

2. i have a gorgeous girlfriend (swimmer + marathon runner) who thinks i am a hottie which leads me to believe that a) she is psychotic, b) she is blind and/or c) why should i bother loosing weight if i am already taken (i know this is an incredibly stupid rationale, but subconsciously its there).

3. i spend my money in two places: on design books and cooking gourmet meals for myself and the ladyfriend

i have lost up to 30lbs. before by cutting calories, the problem is eventually to loose a lot of weight you need to also exercise because you hit the calorie wall. so between needing to exercise which i loathe and wanting to eat either cheap, fast and healthy OR long slow and complex its just been tough to get motivated to do it again.

but i have high blood pressure and i just don't really FEEL good, so its about time to suck it up and do it again. i need to find a way to alter the lifestyle as opposed to just count calories.
