i do drink a lot of sweet tea, and some coke, but i don't drink it to stay awake or anything. i just drink it b/c i like it. it doesn't have much affect on me though

I've just start to drink coffee, about one every week or so; it's more a treat than just a drink. I'll drink it and be wide awake for about half an hour, but after that for about a hour I can barely stay wake. My eyes feel tired and I just feel beat. It only happens with good coffee too such as fresh grounds. Starbucks have a similar but very lessoned affect. Interesting the way the body works.

I like the smell of roasted beans, but the coffee itself - and the caffeine - does nothing for me, at least not in the "Damn, you weak meat bag that calls itself a body, get up and stay awake!" department.

I hate coffee, i dont get why 90% of my school comes with a starbucks in hand.
Becuz it makes them look cool and sophisticated. There is no other reason why school children come to school with coffee. Especially POS Starbucks.

Not immune but I run off it. Normally have 2-3 cans of Coke a day (but I know what it can do to the body :p which is why I don't need fillings or such).
Can't stand coffee or tea, or any other brand of "cola" other than Coca Cola. Do like Dr. Pepper though. And I don't have it to wake me up in the morning or artificially keep me awake at night, for me its more about keeping everything working in overdrive.

I have an odd relationship to coffee and/or caffeine.

I drink coffee often - often a few cups to a pot when I get up, and some espresso later in the day. I also drink coffee late at night before bed.

I never really feel "caffeinated" and can go to sleep just fine after a few cups of coffee. I can also not have any coffee and function just the same. I've never needed it to wake up or start my day.

That said, I have an odd reaction to black teas - I get nauseous and twitchy. This may be from an English childhood where I drank a lot of tea daily. One day around 15, my body just said no - can't even have half a cup.

Energy drinks tend to make me ill also - I still can't figure out what makes them desireable to consume.

Coffee is just so subtle and varied - depending on beans and preparation it can be such a variety of experiences. A daily joy...

I thought I was immune, until I stopped drinking it and had the worst headache for 3 straight days. But apparently, after all that caffeine-induced coffee drinking, I've acquired a taste for it... and so I drink decaf.

I used to drink lots of cola and a fair amount of coffee. Never had a problem sleeping, sometimes drinking a big coke would even put me to sleep.

But when I tried to stop, turns out I was very addicted (very painful headaches). Seems that drinking caffeine was just satisfying chemical needs of the addiction and no longer acting as a stimulant...it got me from tired to awake but no further.

These days if I drink a caffeinated product I can feel the changes almost immediately; increased BP, sweating and alertness.

Doesn't have much effect on me. I can drink some coke or mountain dew and then go right to sleep no problem.

I'll have a cup of coffee once or twice a week because I enjoy the taste, but I never really get hopped up from the caffeine. I used to drink iced chais from Starbucks daily, and I quit cold turkey without any headaches.

Doesn't do a thing for me. Coffee (even the crazy 'rocket fuel' brand), Red Bull, Pro-Plus...I consider myself Caffeine immune. I don't need it - but if I have it - it does nothing.

Same here... I can usually fall a sleep right after a caffeine beverage.

I drink a cuppa tea and am wide-awake most of the day.

When I'm out at some restaurants, I'll have a decaf coffee. These certain places have decent decaf, as opposed to the usual places that serve chemically-modified-and-horribly-tasting decaf.

Too much coffee (I never drank the stuff before) in 2002 led to a fast heartbeat  and a trip to the ER one day. Cannot have too much caffeine ever.

I have a weird relationship with caffeine. After drinking a soda, Red Bull, or coffee I get really REALLY tired. But if I don't go to sleep within about an hour, I won't be able to sleep that night.

Tastes OK to good, depending on coffee, soda, etc. But too much makes me sleepy.

It never wakes me up, so I may be immune.

As for the effects of coffee on me. I can down a venti mocha from star bucks at 10pm at night and be sound out by 11.

Ahhh, those were the days. I used to have a cup of espresso every night after I ate but not any longer. Once I hit about 40, my caffeine tolerance slowly dissipated. I drink almost exclusively decaf these days. I think caffeine tolerance is partly age related.

So is caffeine tollerance built up by expanded doses?

I ask because I've always been sensitive to the effects of caffeine, but a few years ago whilst at uni I drank 2-3 energy drinks a day for months and it had no lasting effect on me. A can of coke would still have the same effect it always had.
