Then you stole a pair of EarPods. You cannot buy online, walk in and take product off the shelf. That’s not how it works, and if you were able to follow along with the messages you receive telling you your product was ready for pickup, you would know this. I don’t know. Maybe you really aren’t able to understand how this works, but for the rest of us we are all filled with doubt about your comment.
I've used this before. Just went into the store and scanned my purchase with the Apple Store app and paid with the card on my account. I had the emailed receipt in like 60 seconds. it was still really weird so I asked an Apple guy for a bag. they were like "your good, thanks for shopping"

but yeah, no receipt printed or anything and the guys and the front didn't even blink.

Except that you can not always refuse to do the right thing simply because the culprit might get violent otherwise we might as let them win, w eight as well let Islamic State rule the US because you know, they might get violent if we do not give in.

but the "right thing" is to protect PEOPLE not the property. The robbers are already smashing and grabbing in broad daylight in a store with customers. If an Apple Employee confronts them and the criminal takes a swing and bashes a little kids head instead, that's a little kid that got hurt for no good reason. The stuff stolen is all lojacked and trackable. The medical bill alone from one person getting seriously hurt is more money than all the merchandise a few robbers can grab.

from the individual store point of view, robberies like this are very rare. If they tried to counter robbers with increased measures, robbers would just prepare to hit harder... then the robbers start bringing guns and shooting people. it's better to rely that the Law will get them and judge them more harshly for threatening PEOPLE in order to rob the stuff. it's the same reason banks stopped having bulletproof glass all over the place. The bank robbers just started putting guns to the customer's heads until the tellers gave up the cash. You can't win a race for more violence, so just don't play and then the Law puts people in prison for threatening to hurt people same as if they did hurt people.
