As the title asks, for those of you who currently own the 9.7" iPad, do you yearn for a smaller, proposed 7.85" screen, or can you not see yourself sacrificing the extra screen estate? As for me, I'm kind of on the edge. I'm afraid the keyboard would be too much of a problem, as the current keyboard is perfect for home row typing. And I'm afraid videos may be too small. However, there are plenty of times I talk myself out of bringing my iPad in public with me because it's a bit big for travel.

So, what do you think?

hate, hate, HAAAAATE the idea of an iPad mini; would never buy one.

i would; however, like a nice 13" iPad!

I can honestly say I think there is room for both. I have a iPad 2 as well as a BlackBerry Playbook ( 7" ) and I prefer the Playbook for traveling and the iPad for laying around on the couch surfing the web. That being said I wouldn't trade my Playbook for a 7" iPad due to the fact the QNX O.S. is really nice and I enjoy playng with it. Variety is the spice of life!!!

Considering it's only a 2" difference, I can't see myself putting down the money for it to replace my 3rd gen iPad.

The tradeoff of it being lighter for less screen estate, less battery (most likely), and possibly no retina display just isn't worth it. The iPad is already very portable, and the difference in weight will likely be negligible.

My opinion could change of course when I see and handle the mini, if and when it arrives. I definitely think scores of people will love it, though.

I'm on the fence. I use my iPad to read textbooks so I'm not sure what they will look like on a smaller screen. At the moment a page fits, but if I had to scroll around, it might be annoying, especially to look at large charts etc.
The idea of a smaller and lighter iPad is nice, but I can always use my phone.

Thats how I would feel IF the iphone were bigger. But with the iPhone being a small screen device (by todays standards) then I just can't read on it comfortably and the rumored "taller but not wider" iPhone5 doesn't solve that problem.

My ideal setup would be a 4.3" iPhone and a 9.7" Tablet, but since the iPhone wont be hitting those sizes then (I'm assuming) the 7" iPad is an ideal in-between size that offers a pocketable size without removing iPad functionality.

Nope, for my us a larger iPad is preferred. My wife is a bit more on the fence as she takes heres to work in her purse and the kids would certainly be getting the Mini.

That reminded me of this picture for some reason..

Agreed. I'm curious to see if I end up liking it too. I'm really interested to see the market split between the large and smaller iPad.

I just bought the Black 32GB LTE today.

1. I got a great deal on kijiji, it was sealed.
2. I already own a 7" Tablet, 32GB BlackBerry PlayBook.
3. I'm going to Las Vegas (first time) this September and I don't want to take my Air.

Who knows what will happened in September, I might change my mind and sell my iPad and get the mini.
