Is everyone in the world just money hungry these days?

I'd want enough to live comfortably and have a shop out back to tinker and build with. I have no desire to be a face in the media, which is all that has happened to this developer.

Believe it or not, not everyone wants to be a friggin rockstar.

That's crazy talk. I must have it all. :D

$50,000 a day for how long? The rest of my life? I'd take the simple life over that.

I'd take $50,000 a day for up 2 years max. I much prefer the simple life, if it means Uncle Sam ain't taking $15,000 a day and breathing down my back the entire time.

Hail, I'm ready to live the simple life of a mountain man if I did not have to worry about the Gub'ment arresting me for fishing and hunting without a license.

Why doesn't somebody just take this Flappy Bird game, basically copy it, change a few features/visuals, call it Floppy Bird or Flappy Duck or something, and just pick up where this developer left off??

There are already clones out there, the money comes from the install base though. This is probably a one off deal. It would take literally 4-5 hours to program the game, the art assets were mostly ripoffs so I can't imagine that would take long.

*sigh* So... how can someone who doesn't develop apps feel so confident estimating how long it would take?

I think it's important to recognize that $50,000 a day is a very temporary thing. No way it's going to continue indefinitely at that amount, if in fact it ever really was that much.

Agreed. It was probably $50k/day right out of the gate while the app was hot. I'm sure it would quickly taper off. And I'm guessing that $50k/day was gross income. I'm not sure how much of that $50k the developer actually gets.

All the simple life people here are suspect.

I'm ambitious...I'd take over a small island with that kind of money.

Until you get cancer and need $$$$ to treat it.

$$$= resources

It appears that some folks here cannot believe that everyone else does not share their world view or values.

Anyone who does not share their values are suspect, at best, or lying, at worst. The idea that there are others who don't see things their way must be suspect, or somehow abnormal...as if the particular poster's point of view defines "normal"

I'm not challenging anyone's point of view or values...just the assumption that it must be shared by others.

What are you, some kind of pinko?

If u have to ask that question, you are a lazy bum who can't be bothered to work hard todsy to build a better future.

However, don't kid yourself kid, for every angry bird success, there are 10,000 developers who are still struggling to pay off that top-of-the-line home office invested in before even a single dime came in.

^^^^THIS^^^^

I just spent $4,000 getting my office ready. Wacom tablet, thunderbolt monitor, CS6, Synology DS414 to store everything, etc... I think Nintendo might have persuaded him to pull it. jmo

I'll take the money. I realize it is not simple necessarily, but I would like to allow myself and my family to live debt free.

Because having £50k a day makes for a better future? I feel you overvalue money a little too much.

If you have to answer like that, then you are likely just a pawn to your masters.

Not everyone has goals of making enormous amounts of money by sacrificing everything else in life. That doesn't mean they are lazy bums.
