I suppose I'm in the minority here, but I enjoyed the movie. There were a couple kind of campy parts, but I really enjoyed the parts featuring Mike Markkula (or the actor that played him).

I'd watch it again.

I enjoyed Issacson's biography and I LOVE Sports Night from Aaron Sorkin, but I'm not sure if that movie will be enough to draw me in. I was disappointed to hear that it will only feature three 30-minute scenes that center around product introductions, and I'm not really fired up over who is rumored to be playing Jobs.

The only problem with "Jobs" is it just has no taste. It has absolutely no taste. And I don't mean that in a small way, I mean that in a big way, in the sense that it didn't have original ideas, and it didn't bring much culture into the product.

That and Woz's character was based on Comic Book Guy more than the living person.

it is 2014 and they still charge more for HD. ridiculous
I never understood that... is it really that much more expensive to the provider/studio to release in HD? Or are they charging more because they can?

Charging more for a Blu-ray disk compared to a DVD is understandable; it's "new" tech. But digital?

Come over to my place. I will pay the $3.99 (yes I am cheap and will get the SD version). We can all watch it together and then we can comeback to this thread and provide insightful perspectives on why or why not this film was terrible or otherwise. :D:cool::p

Huh? Wasn't there yesterday. Gotta check this out immediately.

Btw.. How dare they feature that before finally releasing Pirates of Silicon Valley! XD

I still do not understand all the hate...it was not bad at all. Sure some aspects might have been portrayed better but (from what I know) most events were fairly accurate, by Hollywood standards anyways.

Kutcher did a decent job as well...at least better than I expected.

While I definitely prefer Pirates of Silicon Valley, I enjoyed this one as well and watched it twice. I'll take any movie I can get that highlights this era over nothing...as long as it's not complete *****.

jOBS wasn't unwatchable nor horrible, but it was dull overall without any moments of suspense.

My personal favorite is the inspiration of Pirates of Silicon Valley, Triumph of the Nerds. It's a documentary hosted by Robert X. Cringely, and it offers far better account of the early days of Apple (and Microsoft).

Between this and Bioshock Infinite - Burial at Sea part II, my night is spoken for!

I'll watch this movie. Always interested in anything relating to computers and the history behind them, and I'm a late-comer to the Apple side of the fray. I caught the tail-end of Steve's run, and don't have the same level of expectation and preconceptions about how he should be portrayed like many Apple fans. Plus, I don't think Ashton is that bad, I rather enjoy his work and his stage presence.

If you love technology-history movies, please tell me that you've seen Pirates of Silicon Valley.

Netflix streaming has always been a wasteland, so I'm not sure what Golden Age you are misremembering. Seeing a reasonably recent movie show up is always welcome.

Watch TV then. Netflix is easily the premiere source for watching some of the best shows currently airing or from the past.

"... the film is free for customers who subscribe to Netflix's $7.99 monthly unlimited streaming plan."

Last time I checked, $7.99 was not FREE.

Jobs was a tech zen master. Period.
Woz was the inspired and talented engineer and the man behind Apple. Not Jobs.

Agreed. I've spent many weekends watching entire series from beginning to end that I missed while they were on the air.

Not to mention the nostalgia that goes with watching favorites again like Cheers, Magnum PI, all the Star Treks, etc.

That's like saying that somebody said "we need to move our carts smoother" was a genius and the guy who innovated and carved out the first stone wheel was an idiot.:p

I saw this in the theater. No need to ever see it again.

I think I've watched Pirates Of Silicon Valley at least ten times. That one is still good.

this was so bad they are already talking about making another biopic with Christian bale. jeez, seems like only superhero movies get "re-booted" that quickly.

I've heard this is awful - anyone care to say why

Because it's fiction and portrays Steve Jobs as a great guy back then at the expense of others.

For example, when Woz created the Apple I, Jobs simply wanted to make a quick buck, even going so far to rip off Woz out of his share of the money. He didn't have this deep passion for tech back then as the movie portrays it. He was really just a guy who didn't know what to do in life, starting using LSD and hashish, became mystical, dropped out of school and had no money. Woz back was the one actually passionate about technology, as well as the other homebrew club members, but the movie portrays Jobs as the one trying to convince Woz that computers would change the world.

This is why I can't watch it. Tell the story like it is.

Add me to the list of the minority. I didn't think it was all that bad. Sure it had flaws but overall I enjoyed it.

I get a kick out of people who don't even watch the movie and automatically hate it because they either don't like Ashton Kutcher or are blinded by their fanboyism enough to not even consider giving it a whorl...and don't even get me started on the ones that only watch the first 30 minutes then shut it off.
