Starcaft 2 fps?

Any heat issues with the high-end 15" (while playing and general surfing)?

If you have Assassin's Creed (any of them) to try out that'd be great. :)

My question would be; How on earth do you competitively game on an Operating System that constantly changes your mouse acceleration sporadicly even with third party software?
OS X does not constantly change mouse acceleration sporadically. It has a consistent method that doesn't change one bit no matter what you're doing. I've never understood the problems people have, and I play FPS games under both OS X and Windows.

What about heat while surfing and playing sc2?

It gets hot, like everyone else has confirmed. Even without the surfing.

My MBP doesn't have a sensor directly on the GPU. The temp. reading is always -1847384 or something, lol.

How can u not have a sensor? :p
Do u have the 6750?

If it even gets hot while idling then i'm gonna skip it lol, that's some ****ed up hardware design

Pretty sure I know what I have.

How well does it play SC2 in OSX? Any idea how much better it runs in W7?

Starcraft on Ultra runs smoothly, might swoop a bit when you're in a large battle. Windows however does run better, especially once ATI starts rolling out the drivers. But on OSX, turning on 'High' is the best option!

I've got Assassin's Creed 1, and it runs very nicely on Windows 7. This of course is the DirectX 10 compatible version, I'm sure the 9 would run smoother, but won't look as good.

But seriously dudes, MagicMouses are not for gaming, unless you're fine to assign a keyboard key to aiming down sights.

Surfing right now, on my lap, it's at a great temperature.
But as I said, when the 6750 gets going, it heats up like crazy.

It plays it beautifully. On high with reflections on FPS around 35-45+ and during intense battles it will drop down to 28-30 FPS (on high res screen too!) but you never get the feeling like it's chugging or trying to catch up.

Hot? Same temperatures as my 2010 MBP 15" playing on medium settings! Runs about 80-82 degrees celsius during intense battles and cools down to 75-80 when running about. Basically the same as my 2.53 Core i5 in my 2010 MBP. I am loving this machine!

General surfing, I haven't broke over 60 degrees celsius. Idles around 35-40 depending on what's open. I have the optional 2.3 quad i7 processor though.

Did you test the "Total War: Shogun 2" Demo (Windows 7), it would be nice to know if i could play this awseome game everywhere ;).
What about the noise level in games (OSX & Win) ? You said that your MBP gets quite hot, did it ever get so hot that it shout down by itself? I have this problem with my current Late08 MBP  .

Awesome, thanks. I'm a big fan of the Assassin's Creed series.

I agree, I use a third-party mouse.

I'll try it out and get back to you!

If you're playing really intense games, the fans are fairly loud. But its easily fixed by a headset, or simply turning the game up louder. And it hasn't yet shut down because of the overheating (I've only had it for what, a week) so I can't guarantee.

Temps and noise

What are the surface temperatures during heavy load? Doesn't have to be necessarily numeric, but "unconfortably hot", "hot", "warm", "cool", etc. are fine. If you can differentiate between the different zones as marked in the review linked (upper left, upper middle, etc.), I'd really appreciate it.

Also, how loud and bothersome are the fans? I have a 2010 MBP 13" where I can sometimes hear the fans, but they make a "whoosh" type of sound, which isn't bothersome at all.

Thanks for all the input!

Can u give HoN (Heroes of Newerth) a try? Does the fans spin up while playing it? FPS stable on highest settings?
