Now, if I could just get the fingerprint scanner to work for purchases...

After every reboot you have to retype your iTunes password for purchases before the fingerprint purchase becomes active again. For me I reboot about as often as I purchase so I hardly get the chance to use my fingerprint to save time.

Also if you turn off fingerprint purchase you can type your password once and purchase several items without having to retype your password. If you have fingerprint on, you have to touch your fingerprint for each and every purchase even if its just been a second. It annoys me.

I've never had it ask me for a fingerprint, only my iTunes password even though I have it turned on. Is it supposed to work for free apps as well as paid?

"Cellular Data is Turned Off"

I specifically turn off cell data for all except a few apps.

So WHY, oh WHY does every app have to notify me that I have it turned off when I open it?? Seriously, is there any way to turn off this notification?

If I manually change my setting to NOT use cell data, you would think iOS7 would not bug you EVERY time about it!

Or is this a simple case of operator error...?

Require Passcode Immediately?

In the settings where you requite a passcode or not, before I could select to requite a passcode immediately, after one minute or five minutes, etc, but now the only option is immediately.

Any way to change this?

Thx.

Noticed this too. If you have TouchID on, the only option is 'Immediately', which I guess makes sense. Turn TouchID off and the intervals become available again.

Not working for me. When I turn passcode off, Touch ID becomes greyed out.

Edit... Oh I see... turn pass codes on, then turn touch ID off, then the additional intervals appear.

Folder names

My wife put a bunch of things in some folders, but the folder does not have a name. I'm not sure how she actually accomplished this, but she would like a name on the folder. I'm thinking she might have to drag everything out of the folder and start again.

Anyone know how she can put a name on a folder that does not currently have one?

Thanks

Hold down any app icon until they all start to shake, as you would to delete an app. Once the app icons are shaking and the x's appear, tap on the folder in question. There will be a space above the apps in which you can type the folder name. Then, just hit the home button to set the screen back to normal.

Thanks that solved my problem. I thought that was the issue, but could not see the folder name space because it blended in with her wall paper. I changed the wall paper, and there it was.

Thanks again.

Backing up iBooks to iCloud from two different devices

Hi

I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad 2 (iPad used only on wifi); Both are legit + NO jailbreak etc; both are on ios 7+

Since me and my family use them and we all read different PDF files using iBooks we have different pdf files on each device.

I have only one apple id / account which I use to buy my aaps etc. both devices are connected to the same id. Apps get synchronised

I back up my phone religiously to iCloud. I haven't backed up the ipad and auto synch is turned _off_ on ipad

there is enough space in iCloud, so this isn't about space

Now my question(s)
------------------------------
1. since both devices are connected to the same apple id, IF I open auto synch on both devises, (if and when I do that) will backing up one device mean any addition / deletion / change of data on the other device ? - esp. iBooks

2. alternatively ; is it possible to back up both devices without deleting files i.e. I do not mind all files of iphone's ibooks + ipad's ibooks getting into the iCloud, but I do not want any files / pdf to be deleted

thanks in advance for any help / pointers

best regards

I also have an iPhone 5 and an iPad 2 and both are tied to the same Apple ID (mine).

The way I have mine is like this:

My iPad backs up to iCloud everytime it is charged and so does my iPhone as well. When I go to the cloud - there are 2 separate back ups - one for the iphone and one for the iPad (the 2 don't get merged).

I have iBooks and Apps set to not automatically download on other devices (so if I download an app or a book to my iPad or iPhone - it does NOT get synced to the other device) but I have my Music set to sync (so new downloads DO get synced to both devices).

So in answer to your questions:

1. Yes and No! If you have iBooks and Apps set to sync - all new apps and books on one device, automatically sync to the other device. However, if you delete an app or a book, it doesn't get deleted on the other device. It only syncs new apps and books.

2. Yes - you can back up both devices without deleting stuff. Your iPad back up will show as 'iPad Back Up' and your iPhone back up will show as 'iPhone 5 Back Up' - the 2 don't get merged together.

Pretty sure you can have one Apple ID for purchases/downloads and another one for iCloud, so, one possibility is that you could setup different IDs for iCloud on those devices if you wanted to.

Where is my App Store icon?

I can't find my App Store icon. I only have a page a half of apps to scan. I only have those two home screens. I've checked and double checked. I've rest my home screen to factory defaults through the Settings page. I'm not travelling with a computer, so I can't use that to reset anything, and I'm no where near an apple store so I can't go there - not that I'd want to at this time of year....

It's an iPd mini, non-retina, and iOS is up to date. Very frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

I have iOS 6 and I want 7 but I don't have enough memory. I also have a contract and 3G. If I reset statistics will I have enough memory and will I still have the contract??????????????????

Ask your stupid iOS 7 question here!

Resetting won't affect your contract. I'd highly recommend updating using iTunes or over wifi as you might go over your data. By the way, no need to reset the whole phone. Why don't you just delete some apps or music?

You know how if you add multiple passes in passbook from the same app, they appear side by side in the same slot... Is there any way to rearrange what order they appear in within that slot? I know you can reorder passes vertically, but haven't found a way to reorder them horizontally.

I have the same question

Removing music

Hello. I'm new here and I'm hoping you can help me. I got the ipad for Christmas. I synced to itunes, which put all my music on the ipad. Now, there's so little available space. I just want the music on my ancient ipod, not on the ipad but i don't know how to remove it to free up space. I'm so afraid I'll make a mistake somewhere. Thanks for your help.
