Just a FYI: While Jump Desktop UI looks like taken straight from 2010, the dev team is building a new iOS/iPadOS app, currently in Test Flight beta, that is allegedly fresher, more modern and efficient. I haven’t tried it yet tho.
That is good news. It definitely needs a refresh. I will say that for the most part, JD has been reliably consistent for me.

I like using Screens 5 because it now has Tailscale support integrated into the app. Prior to that, I was unable to use Screens 5 outside of my home network. While I still like JD, I think Screens is edging them out on speed and GUI.
Yes, Jump seems like the best option if you don't want to be locked in to a subscription, but it can be clunky and laggy, especially outside your own LAN.

At this point, if I really needed a solution like this, I think I'd go the hardware route with a small KVM box, and find some VNC app for iPadOs, instead of going with a subscription based service.

This is a pricy one, but there are a lot of far cheaper versions available:

You know what? I’m interested on this, in order to connect to my Mac from my iPad when I’m outside my home.

The only question I have is: using this type of IP-KVM, do I need to pay for a static IP address to my ISP? Or I will be able to connect from the outside even with a dynamic IP?

I’ve been watching videos of the JetKVM and it looks great. If I can use it having a dynamic IP on my home network, then I’ll probably end up getting one.

EDIT: Apparently some of this devices have their own cloud service to connect remotely, like the JetKVM. So I guess you don’t need to directly call to your local network IP, and no need for a static IP service.
