That's my only problem with these cases. The aluminum unibody was designed to be a heat sink for the entire computer ... to let heat dissipate from the laptop.

is this true? - not heard this one before.

The real questions are:

1. is it easy to take off
2. does dirt get trapped inside and scratch your computer?

according the to speck website using this case will make the macbook about he same size as the previous gen without the case.

I just ordered mine yesterday and i got it from the Apple store and ordered a cover for the palm rest (and i got free shipping ) I got the black one also, not my 1st choice, but it will do. I also got a keyboard cover.

What about the tabs that clamp onto the aluminum MacBook? i.e. on the LCD and the bottom. Are they covered in the same rubber material or are they just plain plastic? I'm worried that this could scratch the contact points on my MacBook if I get one.

To each his own. I think the black See Thru Satin looks awesome. I'm not sure any of these cases protects against anything but it's a very cool look.
