Won't work. AT&T is not stupid. It might work for one billing period, and then try calling back with another story.

True that, ive tried all the tricks in the book when i was living in an area with no 3G. They... are a smart company. I was on the phone for a good 6 hours with some lady who i think was a lady but couldnt tell over her incredible middle eastern accent.

funny thing is, AT&T sent me a letter a week later telling me they were terminating my contract, that they would pay the 200$ ETF because i wasnt in actual AT&T coverage i was just in a partner area and supposedly "used too much data".

But here i am again with AT&T.. weird

You can get out of that easy. Jailbreak/Unlock the Iphone, switch to Tmobile and show AT&T the finger when they charge you the ETF. Worst case it will mess up your credit, but what's the big deal in that?

Benefits?
1) Tmobile Blackberry Curve for -70$ on Amazon. Sell that to make a few extra bucks.
2) Tmobile tzone hack for $5.99 = cheap internet goodness
3) Tmobile = more minutes + more sms

A couple of people have successfully gotten by for months without paying for data on ATT. Mileage may vary I suppose.

who cares, you know what he meant. dont distract from the thread. thats against forum rules

yea i wrote thats as opposed to that's. you still understood it though.....i hope

woah forum police too! :D

There is no way in hell ETF's will ever be illegal. as much as we hate them it cost the service provider will always have their way to make money.

there are a few tips (one ive actually used myself) to get out of an ETF.

1. Tell them you are going overseas for 2 years but would still like to be with them when you get back. They will give you some crap and depending on your sweet talking abilities and who you talk to sometimes you can get them to wave the ETF. its rare to get this but i heard its happening alot more now.
2. Tell them your being shipped overseas as you are in the Army. They will ask a few questions (nothing about the army) and wave the ETF. :)
3. Move to a area where there is service with your provider there but they dont want you there seeing as your using the signals from partner companys that they have to pay for! Use alot of minuets and data and youll get a phonecall in week saying "it might be a better idea to join a network in you are.. account terminated" no ETF :)

i have a 3G.

no. i don't want to sell it. i just don't want the $30 a month for slow as internet. I wonder if i called at&t and bitched about how where I live I don't even get 3G service they'd let me loose?

HMMMMM.

WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO DAMN EXPENSIVE?

its a premium smartphone
and its an apple product
considering that, its a lot cheaper than some other smartphones (bold) and the plan is the same but includes visual voicemail

the iPhone was never meant to be offered as a budget phone
its just not apples target market
