This is great news,,everybody please post your feedback once you go past 5gb and let us know what happens

No it has not!!! I know for a fact they still throttled after 5GB of usage if on LTE.

Don't believe everything you read.
you sir are incorrect. I'm currently taking ATT and my unlimited plan through the ringer....I've used 25 gig in the last 24 hours. No slow down in speed. I get 50 down/20 up. I used to hit a brick wall when I got the the 5 gig mark and they would slow me down. That is no longer the case. I think you need to do some information research or test it for yourself before you post. Please and thank you. Also, I still have 22 days left in my billing cycle. At the pace I'm on, I'll use over 500 gig this month.

I'm at home so I don't have great LTE signal here. Just checked my speed and it's 8.69 download and 4.14 for upload. I get good LTE signal 1-2 miles away so I'll check again tomorrow. I was creeping along like an injured turtle last week and a few days ago. The usual throttled .5 or less. Usage for this month is at 8.9GB. The light at the end of the tunnel just became very bright!!! :)

Those of us who kept UDP our plans have gotten better without lifting a finger.

We all know how big this is right? We've been complaining about being throttled for years. Many have given up their plans because of that. And now, we will no longer be throttled! Unlimited is truly unlimited!

From the AT&T site -

As a result of the AT&T network management process, customers on a 3G or 4G smartphone with an unlimited data plan who have exceeded 3 gigabytes of data in a billing period may experience reduced speeds when using data services at times and in areas that are experiencing network congestion. Customers on a 4G LTE smartphone will experience reduced speeds once their usage in a billing cycle exceeds 5 gigabytes of data. All such customers can still use unlimited data without incurring overage charges, and their speeds will be restored with the start of the next billing cycle.

My personal opinion is AT&T worded the above so it doesn't look like they were forced to make a change. I'd be surprised if customers in "congested areas" will really be throttled.

I'm not sure what throttled speeds would be in a congested tower. At work I'm getting speeds that I would normally get. At home I would usually get 15-25Mbps down. Seems like I'm getting 5'ishMbps down in peak times at my home. In the early AM I'm getting 15-25Mbps. I'm not complaining! Wondering if it's their way of 'network managing'?

The biggest problem in threads like these is that people don't understand that anecdotal experiences do not equate to blanket policy.

"OMGZ I USED 100 GEEBEES LAST MONTH AND THEY DIDN'T THROTTLE ME --->>> ATT DOES NOT THROTTLEZ EVAR"

"OH HAI I'VE BEEN THROTTLED EVERY MONTH SINCE THE FDR ADMINISTRATION BY ATTZ AND THEY KILLED MY GRANDMOTHER...THEY ARE SATAN AND LYING!!!"

Does seem like they changed their policy. Before as soon as I hit 5gb, I'd be stuck at .5mbps. Now I'm a bit over but still able to get full speed

Not throttled anymore.

I'm on unlimited, have not been throttled at all this year.

Near Los Angeles. Have about 8GBs with 2 days to go. 20mbps.

Seems kinda hard for them to justify throttling on their old argument, when a few months ago they were offering 2x the data for the same price.

Now would they like to have everyone pay $100 + - of course.

Would they like to have everyone on a grandfathered plan off, of course of course.

There was another caveat.

For a long time before this new change, if you went only a little bit over 5GB every month like even 6GB or 7GB they might not throttle you. It was like a grace zone.

It was almost like a second soft switch to protect against abuse.

Then if you got in trouble and passed a certain threshold of averages, it would penalize you and see you as an abuser and then throttle at exactly 5.01GB every month from then on.

It was almost like if you stayed below a reasonable average close to 5GB it wouldnt throttle.

Now the way it is as of last month you are only throttled if you are connected to a congested tower and are over 5GB.

And to reiterate if you are congested and throttled for the hour or day, it doesnt last all month. It just throttles you while congested. Nothing permanent. As soon as you leave the area or the area is less congested you are back to not being throttled.

Over 50 gig used....still no throttling

This is all pretty great news.

Now let's talk about Tethering!! AT&T should not be able to disable a function of your phone due to your plan. This is exactly the same as throttling. Just a way to push you off the plan and on to one that better suits AT&T.

Thought about that myself. It would be nice to have. We have 4 line family plan each with unlimited data and none of us has ever been in a situation or wanted to tether. Like I said it would be nice to have that option.

Just tested mine side by side with my iPad in a 4-5 bubble area. Two best reading were -

48.88 / 9.45
36.45 / 11.94

Pretty much what I saw with the iPad.

Life is good now :)

Just passed 100 gig mark

Over 100 gig used....still no throttling

Wow!

Did you get throttled in past billing cycles?
Yes, in the past I was ALWAYS throttled RIGHT at the 5 GB mark. Now that AT&T has just recently made changes to their throttling policy, i haven't had my speeds slowed at all. Still getting GREAT LTE speeds.

Yeah, he's going to make AT&T reconsider this change for us.

I was just thinking that LOL...

I have fast wifi at work and home, but after I seen Tommy's screenshots at work yesterday, I turned off wifi to see if I live in a congested area... and if they really did relax throttling.

I went out all over San Diego today with my wife and kids... streaming Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, uploading and downloading files, and a lot of web surfing... and I didn't see any slowdown. I didn't even get the 5gb usage warning message from AT&T. :)

Seemed like LTE was faster in places in San Diego... not so much at my house. I don't use a lot of data... and not to concerned with speed... but glad it's there when I need it. I only stuck with my AT&T unlimited data plan... because the cost of data was still considered cheap to me... even if it were limited to 5gb of LTE data speeds. My Verizon 5gb data plan is $20 dollars more that my AT&T unlimited data. Now I'm considering cancelling my Verizon mifi data plan now...;)

Now that I had my fill of curiosity, it's back to wifi again... :p

I'm not a power user like some people here :) Have only used about 12GB so far this month. Tests from today. Two in Providence, RI and the last about 10 miles away. Forgot to take a screen shot when I did that one.

Also did one later. This is the fastest upload speed that I've seen on LTE -

It was nice to see unthrottled speed! :)
