Damn Tommy, the way you're going you're going to rack up 1 Terabyte of data and once you hit 88 miles per hour at 1.21 gigawatts of power you will time travel:D

Lold Im so happy over all. Like someone said, best news in a while.

I used to dread having to worry about streaming youtube music in the car for fear and worry about going over.

Its that type of stress I wanted to avoid by having unlimited in the first place. I hate that type of feeling. Ruins the fun, especially after getting these gorgeous new screens.

I was so willing to jump in the double the data deals when people were posting up... but so relieved I didn't. :)

Maybe the double the data plans helped get a lot of UDP customers to leave... which might have benefited the current UDP customers. It almost got me. Just playing... if you're happy with your plan... that's all that matters.

Took my wife and kids out again around San Diego for mothers day... to enjoy lunch and shopping. Watched the NBA playoffs through the watch espn app and streamed movies in the car via HDMI with my kids. Over 10 gigs of data over the weekend... and video is still running smooth, crisp, and clear. Not bad for a $30 data plan.

Very happy with AT&T's new policy. :D

The double data promo honestly made sense for a lot of people because of their data usage. Even non promo Mobile Share makes sense.

We have a family plan with 4 lines and each line has unlimited data. Total average monthly data for all 4 lines is 28GB/month.

My current bill with 700 shared voice w/rollover, mobile to ANY mobile and unlimited data is $227 with taxes and includes employer discount. With this plan we are eligible for device subsidies.

If we were to get the 15GB double promo which would be 30GB shared data the monthly bill would be $165/month including taxes, employer discount and 4x$15 device access charges.

If we were to get the 15GB double promo with 4 devices on 2 year contracts that would bring the cost to $258/month.

That would be a $62 savings if we switched to 15GB double data promo with $15/device access charge.

If we would get new devices every 2 years the 15GB double data promo would be $260/month.

Current grandfathered plan: $227
15GB promo, bring your own device(4): $165
15GB promo, devices on 2 year contract(4): $258

AT&T Already Implemented Network Management

Yeah, he's going to make AT&T reconsider this change for us.

Yup. Some people always ruin it for others. :(

If they end up raising the cost in the future to $50, I'd still pay it. Beats the hell out of unlimited data on a Sprint or TMobile

This is all pretty great news.

Now let's talk about Tethering!! AT&T should not be able to disable a function of your phone due to your plan. This is exactly the same as throttling. Just a way to push you off the plan and on to one that better suits AT&T.

No one offers unlimited tethering though, except VZW, who did years ago.

Even TMobile gives you a separate bucket of tethering, compared to the unlimited regular data. I wouldn't mind this. I'll pay a little extra for 5gb tethering on my unlimited plan.

There are usage numbers in this tread that I never thought I'd see from Unlimited data plans. I was viewing my history this morning. I think 10GB plus will be common.

I've been carrying a portable Verizon Mifi since the 3G deivces came out. Back then, we didn't have tablets... and would use it with a laptop. When the iPad came out... I don't use laptops anymore... but data usages didn't change. Now that the iPhone 6+ came out, I don't carry my iPad around anymore... so I rarely use my portable mifi. I think of getting rid of my Verizon mifi at times... but I like having 2 carrier options for data... especially when I travel. There are times I had to use my Verizon data on my AT&T iPhone. Unless you use your carrier data as your primary internet connection... I don't see a use for tethering.. based from my experience with my portable mifi.

Interesting. Based upon the statement linked it indeed sounds like you are now only throttled if the cell tower is congested. However, if I understand this correctly if you *are* on a congested tower and *do* get throttled you won't get full speed back until the next billing cycle. It doesn't mention that moving to another tower that is not congested will restore your speeds.

Sure looks that way to me. Anyone confirm this? :apple:

I also HIGHLY recommend people with Grandfathered Unlimited plans DO NOT update with the next at&t phone update.

Now that the reset fix is in the open, at&t will plug it.

How is everybody's throttling going lately? Has it improved ?
Not sure how anyone is supposed to determine whether or not they are on a "congested tower", but I have used over 200 gig so far with no issues and no throttling.
