I absolutely love my iPad and plan on buying future iPad's

With that said, until AT&T and/or Verizon or whoever raises their cap significantly, I will not be buying another.

The 2gb cap is really a decision-breaker for me. I do use 3g often and no, nothing for video or other HEAVY uses

Not to be rude, but if you can do without it COMPLETELY, as in refusing to purchase it altogether, then can't you restrict yourself to 2GB of use?

Unless your doing it out of protest, that I understand, lol. But I see a lot of people saying "2GB isn't enough I'm afraid I'll go over, I'm not buying it" and I'm thinking "If you can get away with 0..."

Of course. I do it every month anyway (staying below 2gb) because I do not feel like re-starting my sub date earlier. I find the 2gb limit to be abysmal and simply put in place for AT&T to catch more and more people so they can continue ripping them off for additional money.

So, I told myself that I love my iPad, LOVE my iPhone (which has unlimited), and love all other Mac products....but I won't be buying another iPad or iPhone unless I am given a cap limit that is raised significantly from the current garbage. Yes, I know Apple doesn't control that...I am not blaming Apple...I understand they don't control the cap. If it means living without them, so be it.

The flip side, though (and what I wish AT&T would do) was that if you went over they didn't charge you more, or shut you off, they just slowed you down considerably (I think they dropped us down to like 128kbps), I think dropping the speed of users going over 2GB for the remainder of the month would be a fair middle-ground compromise, as it would prevent network overload while still allowing a user to get use out of their device, even if they have a month where they use alot of data.

I think that's what T-Mobile does. I'm surprised that AT&T doesn't do the same thing. I hate Verizon, but I hate metered data even more. I'll wait to see if things improve, but I am considering dropping AT&T if they don't improve this matter.

Had a billing issue with my unlimited plan and had to update credit card details. As soon as I had done that I no longer could select an Unlimited plan via Add Data. So AT&T is very strict about who can select Unlimited and on this occasion required manual intervention before they recognised that I'm elligible for Unlimited.

I asked them since iPad 2 is coming whether or not Unlimited follows the sim and the sim can work in another device. It's very likely the the sim won't be compatible with iPad 2 is my guess since AT&T wouldn't want to see iPad 1 customers sell their old iPad and continue to use Unlimited in iPad 2.

A couple comments:

1) The CC connected to my data acct was recently compromised and the issued canceled it. This happened just as the monthly fee was set to be charged. I rec'd an email from ATT that my acct would be canceled at the end of the b/c they could not verify the CC#. Immediately I went to my iPad and put in a new CC#. I thought I'd lost my unlimited data but to my surprise I had not -- I think I put in the CC# before the month had expired. So if you get this email do not waste a second putting in a new CC#.

2) When ATT grandfathered the unlimited iPhone data plan it was attached to the acct not the card. It's what iPhone 1, 3G and 3GS owners could get unlimited on the iPhone 4. I would think the policy would be similar for the iPad. However, I assume it will not carry over when LTE iPhone and iPad devices ship the same the free text plan didn't carry over from the original iPhone to the iPhone 3G.

THREE times in seven months, ATT has sent me an email saying in part:

[ATT]
We attempted to automatically renew your Unlimited data for 30 days for $29.99 rate plan.
Please update your credit card information and re-select a plan to continue service via Settings on your iPad.
Thank You,
AT&T
====================================================

As before, all the credit card info was fine and I got it sorted out (again) in about a half hour on the phone with an ATT agent. This is apparently just ATTs attempt to get rid of Unlimited iPad Data customers.

I am writing a complaint letter to

Mr. Ralph de la Vega, President ATT Mobile Division
AT&T Global Headquarters
208 S.Akard St
Dallas, TX 75202

and I urge everyone that this happens to, to also send Mr. De la Vega a letter of complaint about it. Perhaps he can sort it out if he gets enough mail on the subject.
