Why can't we get a straight answer from ATT????????

Friday delivery. No we mean Friday it gets shipped, and if you live next door to the hub, you will get it Friday. That's not what we meant........ what? there is a new iPhone?????? No one told us! Oh gee sir, you should have just gone to best buy, as they take pre-orders, and will have plenty in stock, or ordered from Apple, since they have their **** together, and we don't know what a 3G S is!

Did you try clicking on the "In Progress" link? It tells you what it means.

In Progress: Our warehouse is still processing this item for shipment.

The problem is that it has said "In Progress" from the minute we all ordered. A lot of sites have "Order received > Order Sent to Warehouse for Packaging > Order Shipped" or something like that. This is just "it's shipped or it hasn't."

I guess we don't have to know what's going on every step of the way but...well, nm, we do have to know :p
 
From now on in this thread people need to clarify if they ordered ONLINE or INSTORE.

It seems to be making a difference.

Nobody that I know of so far who ordered online has received ANY kind of information beyond "in progress".

People who have ordered instore are getting (some) tracking numbers.

Those of us that ordered online are getting the shaft (so I believe).

YES! I was the one who started this thread and it was for people who ordered from AT&T for home delivery.
 
This whole situation is a testament to how the internet has turned us into a society of NOW. Remember the good old days when you ordered something off the TV and you got it when you got it. No email tracking numbers, no sitting around wasting hours refreshing a website to get the same information over and over again.

Oh well, I will still sit and watch and watch and sit until I get this tracking number and then watch it progress thru the UPS/FedEx/USPS system until I get the email notification that it has been delivered so I can run to the dock at work and scour thru the packages to get to my coveted item.

I hate it, but at least I am honest with myself about it.

I agree with you, but quite frankly my obsession with this at this point has more to do with the lack of AT&T fairness in this whole matter. It's just pissing me off.
 
My parsing of the situation is as follows:

If your ordered IN STORE, you have to pick up in store. Therefore, AT&T is shipping the phones to their stores early since they can be pretty sure that individual stores can handle the stock and *not* give the phones out early.

If you ordered online last week, AT&T is going to ship them tomorrow with overnight shipping so that they reach us on Friday.

So, it's not surprising that people who have ordered in store already have the tracking numbers, since the phones have probably already shipped. However, those of us who ordered online won't have our phones ship until tomorrow (Thursday).

Does this seem right to others? Has everyone else already come to this conclusion? Is it true that, if you order in store, you have to pick up in store?

Yea if you ordered IN STORE, you pick it up IN STORE. but not everyone that has ordered instore has recieved their tracking numbers so i am not sure if that is completely true.

this sounds right, i would think that att's tracking number would be issued once it leaves att's warehouse. which depending on location wouldn't be till the day before for overnight delivery to your house. apples tracking numbers have gone out becuase they're being tracked as a normal delivery from apple...where it was manufactured and shipped to the end user.
 
I guess there is no point in fretting for the next 15-18 hrs. Sounds like nothing will ship until tomorrow. It will be interesting to see where they ship from for ATT customers. Are the ship to ATT store pre-orders coming out of Dallas? The Apple orders appear to be coming out of China.
 
That att order status page might just take forever to update. I got an email showing my iphones shipped about 2 hours ago and the page still shows 'in progress'.

In Store Orders ARE SHOWING SHIPMENT but NOONE WHO ORDERED ONLINE HAS GOTTEN A SHIPPING NUMBER.

"are showing shipment" where? My AT&T order status page still shows "IN PROGRESS". Don't jump to lame conclusions, I've seen plenty of posts in here and other threads from people who ordered online and have had theirs shipped.

Really? People who ordered online from Apple, sure. Online from AT&T for home delivery? Please show me the post!

deeng dude, you just brought my hopes up cause i live in the SF bay of Cali and ordered the same day and in the store so hopefully mine comes in on time too.
 
I called 866-391-0749 (number to regular store not premiere) to check the status of my order (I ordered the 9th). It said that my order is to be shipped tomorrow and I'll receive an email with the updated status. Dunno how true it is but provides more insight than the "in progress" on the website.

For me (I ordered in store) it is shipping out of Fort Worth

Yeah that is what I got as well. "Your order will be processed by the end of the next business day. You will receive an email once your order has shipped."
