AT&T canceled my order without notifying me. Only when I called today to get an order status did they tell me my order was canceled.

Had to order directly from Apple. Now it looks like I will get my iphone at the end of the month.

Hope you all enjoy your phones this friday...

and the back story is…? bad credit? wrong info sent to them? they don't cancel orders without a reason.

When somebody puts the model of their BMW in their name, I'm gonna have to say it's a credit thing.

I'm gonna have to side with you here. I honestly doubt that AT&T (or any of the carriers/Apple) would cancel an order without notification.

Bad credit is a possible reason. Late bill payments could be as well. I would also say maybe an issue with confirmation, but you preordered through AT&T, not Apple. I know Apple was accepting temporary orders that had to be confirmed by a certain time, but that wouldn't apply to you.

they didn't know exactly why.

my guess is it had something to do with porting my number.

my credit is excellent, btw.

sigh.

After I placed my order on Friday with AT&T, I got a weird email on Saturday asking me to sign up for some secure messaging thing. Very weird, but seemed legit, so I did, and it was AT&T sending me an email asking me to call them (through a secure AT&T messaging system I had to log in to - very weird). Anyways, I called, and they had to verify my info. Had I not called, they probably would have cancelled my order. After verifying my info, THEN they placed the order. On Saturday. Sigh.

AT&T knows why they cancelled your order. If you took time to post here about it then something tells me you took the time to try and find out what happened with AT&T. No one can help you here; we can only speculate what happened and the speculation is likely going to piss you off (ie: saying you have bad credit when you claim that you do not).

I think the best thing to do is call back to find out why they cancelled. You'll get your phone but not Friday; it's not the end of the world.

i suppose i could call them back, but the person i spoke to did not have an answer.

has anybody had any problems porting their number before? i thought all you had to do was provide the phone number and account number and it was good to go.

AT&T cancelled my order last year as well. No one could ever figure out a reason... so they re-ordered via AT&T and that order was cancelled too. Ordered with Apple and got the white iPhone 4.

good glad they did i wish they would cancel everyone who keeps calling bothering the cs people and clogging up the lines for customers who actually need services

So getting an order status or a cancelled order reinstated are not legitimate services worthy of AT&T's attention?

same story here

I stayed up to order the phone at 3 am and couldn't get my phone until 5 am on Friday morning. I order one for my wife and one for me. Well I was just about to go hiking on Saturday morning when for some reason I decided to check my e-mai and I received an e-mail from AT&T that said: Unfortunately, we were either unable to verify the information you provided or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online. As a result, your order has been canceled.

What B.S. Called and talked to 4 reps and not one knew what was going on they kept telling me they where going to transfer here and there and next thing you know each time I was disconnected. I finally got a woman who just placed another order for me and I got a couple of e-mails after that but I still haven't been able to verify status of the order so I have a feeling they are going to cancel that order too. My wife's order is still processing on apple.com which scares me to.

This is not a credit issue b/c I have good credit and I was fully eligible for upgrade. The only thing I think may be a problem is b/c I placed my wifes order on apple.com and I couldn't get back on so I placed mine on at&t.com b/c it kicked me off after her order was placed.

To top it off all three phones are being charged to my AMEX acct although I know the one order is canceled b/c I used the email receipt to verify it but no AT&T rep I have spoke to can see it.

yup, that sux.

just went back and scanned my inbox, junk mail, and trash. all i have is the order confirmation placed on oct 7th. nothing else about my order being canceled.

AT&T was having some issue running credit cards. I know that my credit card company flagged the AT&T charge as fraud and refused to pay it (and then called me the next day to verify the charge). AT&T then sent me an email saying that there was a problem and I needed to provide an alternate form of payment. When I called, the rep said they were having this problem with a lot of orders.

I cancelled my order with AT&T and ordered from Apple instead.

port

Whenever your ordering equipment, in my experience porting the number after you receive the equipment is the best bet. It makes sure things operate smoothly regarding the port process.

Yeah. When I left AT&T 2 years ago I ordered 4 phones from Verizon and the porting process was flawless. But now coming back I ordered 4 phones (2 iPhones and two dumb phones) and am porting all four numbers, and I am now wondering if I pushed my luck too far....

Can you...

Go to a store on launch date and pick one up? If you're not in a big city it shouldn't be hard at all to walk in and pick one up with hardly a line at all.

I don't think that will be an option unless they cancel my orders and I'm hoping that doesnt happen. I should have just waited to get it at Apple.

nah, thats ok. our local apple store will probably be crowded. and it would be tough to stand in line with a toddler.

i will just wait.

but i have learned my lesson:
order directly from apple.
AT&T is generally incompetent.
porting may make things worse.

got it.

I tried several times to order from Apple.com, and it kept telling me to go the store. I think it didn't like me trying to port numbers. I tried upgrading my existing line of service with Verizon, and that it would let me do for $849.

Funny thing is that of my 4 phones, two are eligible for upgrade next month (23 months on contract). They still wanted $849 if I wanted to upgrade those. Ha!

It was a lot cheaper for me to pay the ETFs and switch to AT&T than deal with Verizon. But that meant ordering from AT&T.com and not Apple.com.
