OP, did you try to order multiple phones on one line?

Not OP but received the exact same from apple.
Two phones two lines.
I would guess ATTs upgrade eligibility DataBase allowed more than one pending write during all the failed order attempts friday.
Mine is still not reset to eligible even after apple canceled my order.

Got a response from Apple ~22 hours after placing my new order and replying to the cancellation email.

It's nice to get a response even though it still seems unlikely the phone will arrive on Friday. How fast could they ship it from China anyway? Does Apple ever upgrade shipping in order to "make every effort to meet the original delivery date?"

I just received the same sort of email as well. To me, at least it comforts to have some confirmation about them "working hard to meet the original delivery date". Even if I don't get it this Friday, it won't be as late as October 24-31 as it is showing now if they are really working hard.

If everything really goes optimal, it is not impossible to have something shipped out of China on Wednesday to be delivered to the states on Friday.

I am hoping that it would arrive at least sometime during next week if not this Friday...

I also don't think that ALL phones will be coming from China... I think that they have some here in the states. Whether our iPhones were automatically given to the next person "in line" is another story...

NoHo, they're not charging cards they've done a temporary hold to ensure funds are there when the item ships. You're not legally responsible for payment on a hold on your CC until the charge is physically made.

The amount of the hold is in fact blocked from your use for 10 days.
