Morality issue is interesting, though
Normally, I'm not a big fan of hacking but I feel like so many iPhone buyers got screwed by Apple/AT&T in so many ways, that in the case it's justified.
For the first time, consumers, not only pay hundreds of dollars for their cell phones, they're tied to a two year contract, with no choice of carrier. What's more, according to the fine print on the box, you're stuck with AT&T for 5 years. The two year contract is only for rates, after that AT&T can raise them to whatever level the market will bear.
In France, it's illegal for a cell phone company to force the consumer to buy both the product and the service from the same company. It should be illegal here too.
