I'm soooo close to returning this thing and getting a cheaper 3Gs. The wait to pre-order, ending up in pre-order hell w/ ATT, getting the phone and finding the antennas sucked in a big way instead of being groovy, and now my data speeds blow chunks ...
Not a happy camper.
Oh, and case selection/availability is abysmal.
Which is it? Number one, or number two?
I've had my phone since the day before Apple did the roll out and my 3G speeds are fast and consistent, no outages.
The real reason for your problem is the same as mine, it's that silver band around the outside of the phone that Apple calls the antenna. Even with a bumper mine is still marginal at best.
Where is your source link that proves you didn't make up the title of your thread?
I have not experienced any outages, nor has anyone else I know in CA.
I am not advocating for AT&T, however I do advocate for the facts!
Not True, the OP made up the title... there is no source link to prove his claim.
Common sense says that if that was true, many people would be complaining on all mobile forums.
You are simply a fanboi. Call AT&T yourself and have them tell you the same thing if you dont believe me.
Try lightening up a bit, the worlds not always out to get you.

a quick google search finds this news report for the Southeast US.

So MI is Southeastern US now?
Interesting
a service bulletin has been issued, and a major outage is currently being experienced nationwide.
Call AT&T yourself and have them tell you the same thing if you dont believe me.
I would say either the customer service did not know what they were talking about, there is a local issue somewhere, or you mis-heard. But nationwide outage over the last few days? Bravo Sierra. My 3G has been absolutely peachy over the last few days. We drove from Richmond VA to Wilmington DE last night and my passenger was downloading meme videos and army bugle calls (don't ask) the whole way with no speed delay what-so-ever. This is with an iP4 and a case, BTW.
