Tongue lashing of the worst kind. I'm sure I've successfully ruined your day and learned to think twice now before ever posting about good service recovery.
I'm sure I will have more opportunities to do so with Samsung.

Samsung probably wasn't to worried about Australia removing from availability.Really? As soon as Samsung issued the recall, you couldn't buy one in Australia.
Somebody made my night. It's all Apple's fault that the Note 7 went down in flames.
If the iPhone didn't exist, Samsung would have no reason to rush their product to market.
It would have been just another Android release as no other Android manufacturer comes close.
It looks like it's another case of iPhone destroying a competitor, (in this case indirectly).
What a shame.

where across the ocean are airports? You do know there are airports between point A and B on your 6 hour flight right?
As demonstrated by your post, you know nothing abou tLi-ion battery technology other than bits anyone can scrape from the internet. And, as you're not an engineer and with no experience, you do not even understand what is out there. You're not someone to listen to or call on the industry to adopt your campaign and path to a better battery future.
That was rich previously stating Li-Ion batteries should be sealed in metal packaging, and, a dead give-away that you know nothing about the subject.
What a joke...
It's the lawsuit that caused many Apple fanatics to hate Samsung. Like I said before, it's like some weird Us vs Them Manson like mind control. When I see people on here virtually high 5ing each other whenever something happens to Samsung, I can't help but shake my head. Again, it's comical and also sad. It's ok to make fun of Samsung but had this been Apple...the Apple defense would've been strong. "You're making fun of Apple? This is a serious issue. You need to grow up" Yeah...like I said, let's keep it classy. You never know what may come Apple's way a year or so from now
There you say something. If places like eBay start to ban AFAIK these that would be a first.Just wait - lets see how low they can go in the next month or so although the legal position for you would be tenuous at best if you bought a 2nd hand one and it burst into flames..... Would eBay even allow you to put one up for sale ?
Replacement devices with defects. Not good at all.
This has also damaged Samsung's reputation which could have lasting effects on the minds of current and potential customers.
This story just gets worse unfortunately.
I'll be flying across the ocean on a 6 hour flight in two weeks. A fire midflight would mean 3 hours to turn around or continue onward if one of these things blew up. Not a good feeling.
Nice read: SAFO 10017 released after the UPS-AF6 crash back in 2010This is why there's needs to be a mass educational campaign about lithium batteries, so people know what to actually worry about, and what not to worry about. And what to do in case of a fire.
Again, crews are trained for this. It's one of the reasons they keep metal coffee pots and trashcans around. Some airlines even carry special bags to put burned devices in. While inconvenient and can cause a diversion, it is not usually the big danger you think it is.
Sage advice in general. I am worried about flying with note 7; their spontaneous combustion is worrisome. And sure it can happen with any other model, but no other model is under a recall. This is why there's needs to be a mass educational campaign about lithium batteries, so people know what to actually worry about, and what not to worry about. For example, earlier this year an iPhone caught fire on a flight from the mainland to Hawaii. As Alaska Airlines put it, “The fire was quickly extinguished by our flight attendants, who are trained for situations like these.”
A minor problem was that the 18 year old girl whose iPhone it was, panicked and slapped the phone off her tray onto the floor where it slid under another passenger's seat instead of in the aisle. If yours catches fire, try not to do that
Since they were only an hour and a half out, the flight continued the rest of the flight to Hawaii.
- Now, if that phone had been in checked luggage, that would've been deadly. Please folks, do NOT place anything with a lithium battery in your checked baggage. And if they try to take your carryon luggage at the gate, first tell them if there's anything like that in there.

To the point of the thread, iPhones aren't under any recall, much less a world wide recall, airline usage ban, cpsc recall, and modified production schedule. So yeah the note 7 issues are worrisome.True, but nobody is an atheist in a foxhole, and nobody cares about recalls during a fire.
"Wait, Tommy, your iPhone's not under recall, so don't bother telling the crew about the fire."
Heck, the high profile publicity of iPhone fires on airliners in the past... overwhelmingly with teenage owners who I bet sit on them a lot... are what helped raise calls to ban smartphones altogether. But you know passengers: giving up their phone is like killing them ahead of time. That's where the popularity of iPhones actually helped make sure there'd be no such ban.
Moreover, many planes now carry lots of tablets onboard to rent to passengers. And for crew to use. That's another reason crews have had to be trained in handling such problems. With lithium batteries, it's going to happen no matter whether recalled or not.
Samsung, Samsung fans, Android fans if you wouldWhat does this mean? Who is the "they" you are referring to?
Uhm. Yes, they are. That's the most presumptuous saying of all time.True, but nobody is an atheist in a foxhole.
If an iPhone had to be recalled due to a serious problem, Samsung fans would react the same way. It's no big deal. Just let fanboys be fanboys.
Oh yeah, because a bendy phone and a phone with the potential to kill and maim are comparable!
There are very good reasons why people hate Samsung so much - i.e. a company who steals other company's ideas and treats customer and employee safety with such disregard is more than enough reason. I'm absolutely perplexed as to why anyone would defend them, in the past with their blatant stealing (not just Apple), but especially now!
[doublepost=1476030809][/doublepost]
Deplorable perhaps, but completely understandable given the wretched company we are dealing with here.
Since we're talking hyperbole and generalizations what you mention in the post runs both ways. Basically it's pot meet kettle and kettle meet pot. There are those who go gleefully out of their to remind us Apple has had issues with batteries as well. But it does seem Samsung bungled this entire fiasco. It's stupid either way. But the hypocrisy of Apple fanatics is ridiculous yet amusing. The same ones bashing and throwing out high fives to each other are the same ones who get in their feelings when bendgate was mentioned or when an ad poked fun at Apple.
Like I said in my previous post, this situation isn't funny. It wouldn't be funny if it happened to Apple either. I do hope Samsung learns from this and bounces back. IMO focus on the S8 and leave the Note line alone for a year. People usually forgive and forget

Yeah b/c iPhone's have never caught on fire before. Do a quick google search and you'll see that they have. But "bendy phone" or not they hypocrisy still runs rampant in this thread. It's ok to bash Samsung when they're going through some sh*t but god forbid anybody does it to Apple. Like I said before, keep it all the way classy b/c Apple could find themselves in a similar situation a year or so from now. Hopefully that doesn't happen (b/c I fully plan on getting the iPhone 8 (7S?) and last thing I wanna have to deal with is my phone making me look like I just took one of Scorpion's fatalities...but you never know. There's been stories of iPhone battery explosions all the way back to the 3GS.
This Samsung battery/exploding thing isn't a joke. And the fact that you have people giggling like school girls over this b/c Apple got one over on Sammy (score 1 for the good guys)...is kind of strange, ridiculous, and comical for all the wrong reasons. Nevermind that some people were seriously injured and one rumored to have been killed...but hey as long as Apple scored a victory over evil Samsung...that's reason enough to celebrate
They are celebrating because the only company who could challenge Apple is out of the way. It's stupid either way. But the hypocrisy of Apple fanatics is ridiculous yet amusing. The same way Samsung was celebrating when they thought they could destroy the iPhone 7 with the note 7?They are celebrating because the only company who could challenge Apple is out of the way.
