Go back when they have a shipment of iPhone 4s come in and they'll be telling you the new ones are flawless.

I've been talking to AT&T tech support quite a bit lately because the towers in my neighborhood are very overloaded, and they supplied a 3G Microcell which introduces a different set of problems.

Every time I speak to someone there, they say "I see you have an iPhone 4 on your account - we've been having a lot of problems with those, have you tried any other 3G device?"

AT&T seems to have no problem bashing the iphone as much as they can lately.

Same thing happened to me when I called them to complain about my local coverage.

They just kept blaming the iPhone. Nevermind the multiple down towers in the area. iPhone 4 is an easy scapegoat now.

what they forgot to tell you is that AT&T itself is the problem in terms of call quality and coverage...

Maybe the 4 guys at the store just happen to like Android better than the iPhone. It does happen you know.

Yes, AT&T has blocked any apps off the Captivate that aren't downloaded from the market. Very lame.

Someone will fix this with a ROM later, but in the meantime you can buy a T-Mobile Vibrant, unlock it and use it on AT&T 3G if your area has AT&T 3G on 1900 MHz.

Its because they make little to NO money when they sell an iphone.

You should always listen to ATT Corp. Store Reps and let them decide the phone you pay for and use.

thats what i do. i just walked in to the store a few months back, handed the first guy i saw my ID and credit card and sat down. 15min later i was handed a receipt and i walked out.

doesnt get easier than that.

Also, iphones are crap anyways :)

Wow your 1st post here you searched and found a thread from August to say Iphones are crap! welcome to the forum we look forward to more valuable post from you!

well at least you know how to search I guess!

Not true at all. I work for AT&T and believe me, it's iPhone, iPhone, iPhone. All internal memos, training, etc is all iPhone. It's basically iPhone, then everything else is grouped together.

So I am a Verizon customer. I want an iPhone. I am on the verge of signing onto the Apple site and ordering two this very minute. Everyone I know says to wait, but I am skeptical that there will be a Verizon model. If there is one I am afraid that it will have its period where the issues are fine tuned. What would you suggest? Buy...or wait?

Depends on your area. Ask some people you know with ATT 3G phones. If they consensus is that the service is good in that area I would buy now. There have been rumors of a Verizon iPhone for years and we are still waiting. If you ATT coverage isn't so good, wait another couple months.

I would imagine the people who work at an AT&T Wireless store are the type of geeks that need total control & customization of their devices to be happy with it.

I feel like most Apple users, especially those here on MR, have all sorts of various jobs, with all different lifestyles, yet we all come together with our love of Apple products. We're not looking for a new device to analyze and rewrite the code for, we just want a device that makes our lives easier and brings us a little fun :)

The iPhone was probably sold out that day and they didn't want you to leave without making a sale. P.S. Never let any rep dictate which product you will buy. Most are either motivated by their commission check, unknowledgeable, or biased.

Couldn't agree more. 'Cept I'd change the "Most" to "All."

The rest of my family switched from Verizon today, our AT&T store people were really enthusiastic about the iPhone and use it themselves.

I was at Att store and the rep has an iPhone as his personal phone and a Droid that Att gave him for performance.

I asked him what device he likes better and there were a bunch of people in line and could hear.

All he said that iPhone iOS is much more polished than the droid.

I had a few questions for the AT&T rep when I bought my iPhone. He answered several questions wrong. I asked if there was an orientation lock. He said no. I asked if there was a way to close a running app totally. Again, he said no. There were a few others, too.

Like in most jobs, there are going to be people who are actively bad, people who just aren't good, then some who are good at it. I'd say with wireless sales it's 30/60/10, respectively.
