Juliet Hotel Charlie
tl;dr - I got my 10GB doubled to 20GB plan back. There was never a 30GB for $2 more.
~~~
I'm glad I don't have real problems but AT&T isn't playing fair. For everyone that thought this was too good to be true you win a cupie doll. The CS rep "misrepresented" the 30GB data plan cost to me and screwed up my account. This was my first bad experience with AT&T so they initially had my trust.
- I find out about the double secret data promotion
- My account qualifies
- I cannot be put on the plan because of an impending upgrade and told to call back
- I called back three days later after the activation
- I'm told the promotion is no longer available
- I escalate and sheer luck puts me with a Duty Manager that escalates to her supervisor and restored the promotion
- A few days later I call to check on an activation error on a different phone and the CS rep tells me I can get 15GB doubled to 30GB for $2 mor per month.
- The promotion is removed and I'm put on the standard 15GB plan for $130/month.
- I call the retention folks and this time the Duty Manager is a complete d**k and tells me that I can't get the promotion back and offers me a $100 credit. Only at the end of the conversation (and a lot of angry words) did he mention opening a case.
- I was very clear to him on what I thought of his ability to retain customers.
- I call back the next day and the Duty Manager opens a case
- Today I was notified I'm back on the 10GB plan doubled to 20GB
I know it doesn't sound like much but the frustration and approx. 2 hours total on the phone isn't how I want to spend my valuable <cough> time.
The jerk Duty Manager would only offer me a credit of $100 to "make up the difference for two years" and he couldn't understand why I didn't snap that up like my dog on a strip of bacon. I asked him about year 3 when I was on a plan that is $30 a month more than I'm on now and was met with silence and then a mumbled he can only go out two years. And I don't know what common core new math he used to determine that $30 a month over two years equals a $100 credit.
I think I had no less than four people tell me I couldn't get the promotion back and fortunately I got it back twice.
I apologize to everyone
🙂 for not checking my plan before posting here. I took what AT&T told me at face value
🙄 and wanted to get the information out quickly so it might help someone else. I was told "a lot" of promotions were lost when a handset was upgraded and people are opening cases to get the promotion back.
<puts rose colored glasses back on and believes anything AT&T does is in my best interest>
Did you call the regular reps or do the retention route?
Thanks
PNutts: So you are getting 30GB for $102 (excluding any discounts i.e. FAN)? If so, that's a GREAT deal.
Wow, 30 gigs for $102 sounds good.
The guy tried to get me to go this way... it came out to $102 because of our FAN discount. I am not saying that is the same as what happened to the poster before, but it was a clever wording that he was trying to use. I had to point out multiple times that verizon is offering 15GB for $100 BEFORE FAN and 10GB for $80 ALSO BEFORE FAN. We would receive the same FAN discount from VZW as we would with AT&T, so right now AT&T is flat out more expensive, especially considering the $150 a line VZW is willing to fork out for porting.
That makes more sense to me.
Sorry sorry sorry.
But as usual lordofthereef nails it. The only way it makes any sense is that the CS rep compared the
before FAN discount 10GB plan to the
after discount 15GB plan.
