Guys, be careful with this. I was on the 10 GB mobile share when i heard about the double data promo. I upgraded to the 15GB and voila had the 30GB for the price of 15 (for an extra $30 a month for jumping from 10 to 15)

realized it was way more than i needed and heard about them doubling the 10GB plan to 20GB for the price of the 10. Also read here about the promotion being extended to middle of november.

call this morning to change to 20GB for the price of my old 10GB plan.... oh but wouldn't you f'n know... conveniently that ended last week (att rep with their stupid ass fake concerned voice)

so I'm still on 30gb for 15gb price, but i could be saving an extra $30 a month really. If anyone has success in trying to do what i am could you please post it here.

**they also told me the only thing that has been extended was the 30gb for price of 15gb...

I believe the only way to get the 10GB plan doubled to 20GB for the price of the original 10GB is to call AT&T Retentions Department, not regular Customer Service.

Nah, that whole deal was deep sixed when too many people called retentions to ask for it.

I would just give it a couple days and call back. I'm sure there's going to be some kind of deal to match Verizon or offer something even better.

I called AT&T today and I was on the 10GB plan that was doubled to 20. They let me know for $2 more a month I could go onto the 30GB plan (no expiration) so I did. :)

I don't have any details on how I qualified and maybe you don't have to qualify at all. So all I can say is if you are on the 10GB plan the 30GB may not cost much more for you.

Just tried this via chat... no dice (for me, that is). Please let us know if others are getting this $2 bump to 30GB.

PNutts: So you are getting 30GB for $102 (excluding any discounts i.e. FAN)? If so, that's a GREAT deal.

Just got off the ine with retentions (twice). The first rep wasn't terribly helpful. The second said that Verizon just changed their plans and there wasn't a new plan added. He did acknowledge, without me asking, that they were offering 20GB for the price of ten last month, though that ended last week. The only other option they have right now is the 30gb for the price of 15. He did say he was confident that AT&T would add something competitive, maybe even bring back the 20GB for the price of 10, so I should keep calling retnetions back.

It was also noted that since I called retentions, they would probably call me back to see if I was happy with my service. He said I should make it known at that point that I am shopping around and serious about moving to Verizon to do so.

Wow, 30 gigs for $102 sounds good.

The guy tried to get me to go this way... it came out to $102 because of our FAN discount. I am not saying that is the same as what happened to the poster before, but it was a clever wording that he was trying to use. I had to point out multiple times that verizon is offering 15GB for $100 BEFORE FAN and 10GB for $80 ALSO BEFORE FAN. We would receive the same FAN discount from VZW as we would with AT&T, so right now AT&T is flat out more expensive, especially considering the $150 a line VZW is willing to fork out for porting.

That makes more sense to me. If the poster that said that he was being offered 30GB for $102 without FAN, then that's a good deal. But it looks like he's just getting the advertised deal + his FAN discount. My FAN is 25% so that brings the advertised 30GB double promo to $97.50.

I forgot to mention the $102 included the first lines (since they take it off the data plus first line for my FAN). Not that it really matter... but just in case you're trying to crunch numbers it may be useful info to... someone lol.

Ha! My head is spinning! :) I am honestly happy with getting the 20 for 10 deal... but thought if $102 (before FAN) for 30gb was possible, i would be interested.

Yeah. I missed out on that. It showed up on MR literally in the time that the inlaws were visiting so I wasn't on much. Lesson learned. As you can see, I am not about to let it happen again lol.

Yeah same here, my FAN is 22% so I'd have considered moving back to AT&T if it were the case.

LOL... you mean let the inlaws visit again? ;) Mine are visiting at the end of this week which may signal killer deals for us all!

I called into retention last week and had my data doubled from ten to twenty for no charge. I just checked my account now and see my limit got doubled again to 40 and now being charged $250 instead of $100. Hopefully this is a mistake on the web.

Regular rep. I was just calling to make sure the phone that was just activated went through ok (there was an activation error at the Apple Store). After my activation was confirmed she volunteered the information without me asking.

My plan is called: Promo for Mobile Share Value Plan 30GB

I hope so. Paying for 10 GB and then paying for 30GB for $2/month more.

Here's a summary of my plan. I hope it helps.

I texted a friend twice last week telling him to call for the 10 to 20 upgrade. The idiot waited until it was too late. You can lead the horse to the water....

How the 2$ more?

No love for the 10GB plan? Screw you AT&T, retentions is not much help either.

You're a week late and a dollar short.

I think what the poster was trying to say is, unlimited means it should be unlimited, not whatever they want it to mean.

Well it is unlimited, it's just that the first portion is high speed and the remainder is low speed.

Have a look at the Terms of Service you agreed to when you last upgraded a phone. Unless you haven't upgraded in years, AT&T will have covered their bases and by accepting the agreement you accepted the stated definition.

See https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/19007304/

It'll be interesting to see what the result of the FTC action ends up being. My guess is some settlement and the eradication of remaining grandfathered unlimited plans either immediately or at the next update/upgrade cycle.

tl;dr - I got my 10GB doubled to 20GB plan back. There was never a 30GB for $2 more.

~~~
I'm glad I don't have real problems but AT&T isn't playing fair. For everyone that thought this was too good to be true you win a cupie doll. The CS rep "misrepresented" the 30GB data plan cost to me and screwed up my account. This was my first bad experience with AT&T so they initially had my trust.
  • I find out about the double secret data promotion
  • My account qualifies
  • I cannot be put on the plan because of an impending upgrade and told to call back
  • I called back three days later after the activation
  • I'm told the promotion is no longer available
  • I escalate and sheer luck puts me with a Duty Manager that escalates to her supervisor and restored the promotion
  • A few days later I call to check on an activation error on a different phone and the CS rep tells me I can get 15GB doubled to 30GB for $2 mor per month.
  • The promotion is removed and I'm put on the standard 15GB plan for $130/month.
  • I call the retention folks and this time the Duty Manager is a complete d**k and tells me that I can't get the promotion back and offers me a $100 credit. Only at the end of the conversation (and a lot of angry words) did he mention opening a case.
  • I was very clear to him on what I thought of his ability to retain customers.
  • I call back the next day and the Duty Manager opens a case
  • Today I was notified I'm back on the 10GB plan doubled to 20GB
I know it doesn't sound like much but the frustration and approx. 2 hours total on the phone isn't how I want to spend my valuable <cough> time.
The jerk Duty Manager would only offer me a credit of $100 to "make up the difference for two years" and he couldn't understand why I didn't snap that up like my dog on a strip of bacon. I asked him about year 3 when I was on a plan that is $30 a month more than I'm on now and was met with silence and then a mumbled he can only go out two years. And I don't know what common core new math he used to determine that $30 a month over two years equals a $100 credit.
I think I had no less than four people tell me I couldn't get the promotion back and fortunately I got it back twice.
I apologize to everyone :) for not checking my plan before posting here. I took what AT&T told me at face value :rolleyes: and wanted to get the information out quickly so it might help someone else. I was told "a lot" of promotions were lost when a handset was upgraded and people are opening cases to get the promotion back.
<puts rose colored glasses back on and believes anything AT&T does is in my best interest>
Sorry sorry sorry.
But as usual lordofthereef nails it. The only way it makes any sense is that the CS rep compared the before FAN discount 10GB plan to the after discount 15GB plan.
