Your first statement is false, I was in n the 10 g family share and changed it online.

----------

I did a week before this promo.... This deal "made" me make the change to the 15g(30g) plan.

----------

I just switched my kids over to smart phones so jumped on the family share band wagon. The most we used before was 6g, with average around 3 so I stayed eith the 10g at the time. A week later they came out with these double plans so I decided to swap to the 15/30g plan to try it out and see. IF You don't need the extra data u can always drop back down but after oct 31 you won't be able to get the plan. I'm D swap for a month or 2 to see how it goes.

----------

Don't be because it's cheaper per monthe with subsidy. 15+37 vs 40. Sure you're out the $400 when you first pay for the phone but you're saving the $ monthly. Guess it really depends on your monthly $ output.

----------

I don't think so. $130 for 15/30g plan, 15 for each phone= 160 total. I'd tether the iPad to a phone (hotspot included with family share) and save the cost of adding that to your plan. Add your discount and you're down to around $130 give or take. Seems like you're better off swapping to family share. IF you did next or subsidy you'd have to add those into the 130 cost but you didn't clarify that either way so?? Good luck.

My first statement turned out to be false but at that early time when the news first broke that is what the articles were posting in regards to the sign up methods. They were saying you had to call AT&T or go to corporate store to get the new double data promo plans.

Cool I wasn't aware of that.... I just know I went right on and changed it online when I heard about the "new" deals.... seems like the deals we should have had all along.

This worth it...

I just want hotspot!

I have two unlimited iphone data plans I will lose...

I am on an older family plan and may jump to one of these plans this weekend. One of our lines just upgraded to the iPhone 6 and is under contract for another 23 months. I may pay the $315 ETF to get the line down to $15, saving me $25 a month. Break even point is in 13 months, seems worth it.

This was my thought exactly on breaking contract for one of my recently upgraded lines.

I am having the most difficult time doing what I wanted to do above. After three different calls to AT&T, five reps (Including retentions), and one visit to an AT&T store, all are telling me the same thing. If I pay the ETF, they cancel my line. I am past the 14 day 'remorse' period for this line, with two other out of contract lines on my old family plan. Want to move to the new Mobile Share plan.

I was under the impression that paying the ETF fulfilled the two year contract but kept the line open, just not under contract, allowing me to pay the $15 access fee instead of the $45 per month. Every rep insisted that if I pay the $315+tax ETF the line would be terminated.

It's been reported others have had the same experience. To be fair, it is called an early termination fee. They aren't dumb, they know you will save money which means they will lose money. So of course they aren't going to make that easy to do.

Just looked into this more deeply. It seems the 10GB plan is crazy expensive at $10 per GB. Jumping to the $130 for 30GB plan halves the cost per GB to $4.34.

I may need to opt in since I'm constantly bumping up against the 10GB allotment, but I need to control my son's data use since he seems to be using half of it. I'm going to have to turn off his data when he hits 3GB.

Anyways, so what's the verdict gentlemen? Do you find it's a good deal? I've got 10 days to decide.

Yeah unfortunately you would lose the line, but you could keep the phone and just re-add a new line with a new number and bring in your iPhone 6 you just got from the cancelled line.

Call retentions and they'll bump your 10GB to 20GB. People are having success on howardforum and slickdeals.

Not sure if it's kosher to post a link to another forum (slickdeals), so if not, my apologies ahead of time.

Here's the SD thread. Lots of questions & some answers in there.

Can't decide if I should drop back to 10GB & do the retention thing for 20GB or stick with the 30GB...I've already used 8GB this cycle with 12 days left, so hitting 15GB per month will be pretty normal...30GB gives me lots of leeway, but then I'm paying extra each month and typically that extra 10GB will go unused...I just can't decide.

Do the retention thing for 20GB and let us know how it goes!

You'd be fine with 20GB since you've only used 8 and you're getting close to the end of your billing cycle.

going to 30GB costs you $30 extra per month! I don't see how in any way that could possibly be worth it. If you can get 20GB the price of 10 do it!!! :) Save $30 every month on your bill!

You twisted my arm. I called 611, used the phone tree to pick "cancel my account" from the 2nd menu after pressing "0" and got straight to retentions. 10 minutes later I have a 20GB plan for $100 per month and they gave me a $25 credit for my trouble and to "make sure I stayed with AT&T" :)

Wow really it was that simple? Congrats! ;) How long have you been with AT&T for? I have Verizon and I wonder if this would work for them..

I gotta make this happen. Especially since my new billing cycle just began and this is moreso my speed than the 30GB for my family.

I just called retentions and got the 10gb for 20gb deal. The rep was very pleasant and he gave me a $15 credit to cover the prorated amount of the 30gb I had switched to 2 weeks ago. Really happy right now to be saving that extra $30. It showed up immediately on my account and I got a text confirmation. Don't use chat or call C/S, they will tell you that it is a rumor and there is no such deal. He said only retentions can give you that deal.

I just went on the Chat and asked. Told them I've been a customer for 10+ yrs and was happy and just wonder if they can double my 10GB. Cool if they can; no big deal if they can't. 3 min later I have 20GB

Yep, I called earlier -- nice rep but he didn't have the ability to do anything and warm-transferred me to retentions. Retentions guy was able to do it and actually seemed surprised he could add the promo plan to my account.

Bonus because this month's clock reset and I have 20GB to use in nine days... :)
