I just called to switch from 10gb to 15gb to get to the 30......I have to call back tomorrow since it doesn't go live until then and she said it isn't automatic.

The 40GB plan is coming to $114 with my discount. That's crazy. Can't wait. Will finally have tethering.

Question is, who is giving up unlimited data for this?

Wife and I are on an old family plan with 450,min talk with rollover, unlimited text and data...most likely going to jump to 15gb or 20gb plan. Can you still sell unlimited data plan on ebay and switch it over??

what?? whas is your discount??? Mine is 25% and i dont think i have ever seen one higher than that. Oh, maybe you mean the 20gb plan doubled to 40gb?

My inner Admiral Ackbar is screaming out, aside only applying on 15 GB plans or higher, what's the catch?

They want people on the unlimited plan to finally jump ship IMO. And I think a lot of them will, remember with these mobile share plans, tethering is included.

Anyway...this is a sign of things to come most likely. Right now its a limited deal, but within a year watch it will be the norm

The 20gb doubled to 40gb comes to 114. 40GB will be plenty for us for the next 5 years as I will use wifi more also.

Wow, this is good. Hoping Verizon will do something similar (since they do typically match ATT).

Yup giving up my unlimited for this for sure. I work in the field, and have to tether my laptop to a work provided sprint 3g hotspot. My life is going to be so much better cruising on LTE.

Right now we have 5 lines with data plans (4 unlimited). Rough math is that once our contract is over this will come out to around $100 less per month. Only problem is my cheapskate relatives still wanting "free" phones. Once I educate them I think it will be all systems go.

Now the debate is 30, or 40 gb?

I think I'll finally give up my unlimited data. They already throttle me at 5GB to the point it isn't usable so I might as well as get more and save some money at the same time. 30GB will be plenty.

If they doubled the 10gb plan to 20 as well I would give up unlimited and merge my mom and I's account with my dads. We would pay roughly the same as we do split up but we would get unlimited minutes which my mom could use, unlimited text which I don't really need, and plenty of data + hotspot.

Upgrading from the 10GB for sure. With my 20% discount, not sure if I want to go 30GB for $104 or 40GB for $120. Probably 30GB to keep costs down a bit, since our bill will be $85 more per month due to two Next upgrades to iPhone 6's.

Same dilemma. That said:

$104 / 30GB = $3.47/GB
$120 / 40GB = $3.00/GB

$120 - $104 = $16 / 10GB = $1.60/GB

Same here.

How likely is it that they're anticipating that they'll have to enable tethering on the unlimited plans eventually? They offer this plan "temporarily" to entice people to give up unlimited. Then they'll be forced to enable tethering on all plans, screwing the unlimited guys that quit.

Why else would they do it?
