It's an awesome deal. But my family is on the 10 GB plan with 3 lines and we are doing OK. Although, it would be nice to upgrade to the 30 GB plan for an extra 30 bucks a month. Just the idea of giving AT&T an extra 30 bucks a month, I don't know...

I'm in the same boat. We used less than 5 between the 3 of us and even thin month wel will probably do the same. My daughter is the one who uses the most and used about 3GB total. I just don't think it's worth $30 more for data we'll never use, but this is so tempting.

How much more are you paying for the addition 10gb ?

When I go over my 20gb plan by 10gb it's an extra $150.

This upgrade will save me up to $300. I work on the road (literally in a bus while someone is driving) and often don't have wifi. My bill has been up to $1000. This is really great!!!

I just upgraded from 10-30 with no problem. Corporate discount applied and total monthly cost went up $24 for an increase of 20GB. I'm pretty pleased right now.

Instead of paying $24 to att id rather pay$15 a month for a beats family plan and cache my music to my phone to save data

How likely is it that they're anticipating that they'll have to enable tethering on the unlimited plans eventually? They offer this plan "temporarily" to entice people to give up unlimited. Then they'll be forced to enable tethering on all plans, screwing the unlimited guys that quit.

Why else would they do it?

Why would they be force to allow tethering on unlimited plans? Just wondering why you think this.

Can i do this if I already bought an iphone 6 at the 2 year contract price?

And how would I sell my unlimited data line with this process?

I'm wondering the same thing about selling data plan. Would love to sell both mine and the wife's! Would pay for my 6 plus!

Nah, I think it's throttling they're anticipating to be removed. Honestly, I think AT&T and Verizon are just waiting on who will pull the plug on unlimited data first. The less customers they have holding onto unlimited, the easier it is for them. It could be just less bandwidth abusers or it'll be easier to lose those customers if/when they stop honoring grandfathered unlimited plans.

For anyone who can't upgrade I just got off the phone with AT&T and am kinda pissed. This is the reason. If you are waiting on a phone upgrade to be delivered and activated you can't switch plans until you have done so. They say it is for some sort of "security reason". Hopefully you get and activate your new phone prior to Oct 31st or you are SOL! I am still waiting on my 6 coming from China. Ug.

I'm seriously considering giving up my unlimited plan for this.

Same. I have 5 lines, 1 unlimited, 2 3GB, and 2 2GB and I'd save about $100 a month by switching to the 15GB, now 30GB, mobile share. It looks like you can't get subsidized phones on mobile share though, so I'm wondering if I upgrade all my phones to new 6s will they let me switch to the mobile share after the fact?

Same here, really tempted to do this in case the kid goes crazy.

You know that with the AT&T app you can monitor the kids usage and switch their data off when they exceed a limit you and the kid agree ons.

I give my kids a data budget for each month and their job is to be responsible and figure out how to stay within their budget. I'm hoping this will be a useful lesson in later life.

FYI, if you have a phone pre-ordered then AT&T won't let you switch until the phone is delivered and activated. I chatted with one of their agents and she assured me she could back-date the switch to today.

That's why the option to change the data plan was greyed out for me on the website.

I do know this, and she's really go about it. I use it when she does good in school also and let her have some more data. That app is a big help, just would be nice to have a little more and I might jump on this offer too.

Upgrading from the 10GB for sure. With my 20% discount, not sure if I want to go 30GB for $104 or 40GB for $120. Probably 30GB to keep costs down a bit, since our bill will be $85 more per month due to two Next upgrades to iPhone 6's.

I also receive a 20% discount from work but where are u getting these numbers from ? How many lines are on your account ? I have 2 lines & the 30gb plan averages out to $134/mo, & the 40gb @ $150

No doubt it's tempting. And that's the most telling sign to pay $30 more for the data that will never be used. Granted, it might come a time when there's a family vacation... but those times are not the norm. It's rather odd to have to pass up on a deal that gives a user 20 GB more for 30 bucks, this promo is intended for AT&T unlimited data users.. IMO.

I'm on unlimited but thinking about switching because I love the idea of tethering my phone. As it stands I only use about 5gb a month but I can see myself using more with tethering capabilitities.

Question, are there alerts you can set up when you reach a certain number? Say like I wanted to be alerted at 25gb so I know for the rest of the month to limit my tethering?

I still have the original unlimited plan and my daughter has a 3GB data plan. Between the two of us we use a bit more than 2GB per month, so AT&T is recommending the 10GB shared plan, which would save me about $30 a month. But I can now get the 30GB shared plan for about the same I'm currently paying, which would let two other family members get smartphones and not worry about data. Not a bad deal.

It also looks like AT&T is pushing subscribers to get away from their subsidized plans to Next, which is less clear-cut.

AT&T will notify you.. Don't you worry about that.
