This is sad. Who will have the fastest 4G LTE network when all is said and done?
Not Verizon. There LTE network will only run at about 6 - 8 Mbps at launch, when it finally does.
AT&T 7.2 Mbps 3G will be about 4 - 5.5 Mbps in the real world, spiking to 6 Mbps. Not really all that much slower to the naked eye.
T-Mobile in the end will have the fastest. They are going to go to 7.2 Mbps, then right to 21 Mbps, which in the real world should net 14 - 16 Mbps.
If the current info holds, T-Mobile will have the fastest wireless network, through 2011.
If AT&T decided they wanted to be as fast as T-Mobile they could bump there 3G as well to 21 Mbps.
Verizon in theory could also bump theres even faster but they don't have the back end to be able to do that, and probably wont until 2011.
Not that most of this really matters for the next year anyway. The current Mobile Phone Processors don't have enough Bandwidth to even use all the available speed.
The iPhone 3GS can only do about 11 - 12 Mbps in the real world, The 3G can only do about 5 - 6 Mbps (Just test on yours with a connection faster then 12 Mbps or 6 Mbps on a 3G. )
