Was able to get this added to both of my lines and got upgraded from the 15gb to 20gb mobile share value plan for the same price.

I'm not sure why either.. and also why they won't grant it to the grandfathered plan/legacy plan users.I called 611 from my phone yesterday, followed the prompts to speak to a representative, and asked to be transferred to the retention department. The CSR transferred me, and the rep in retention added Canada and Mexico roaming to all four lines on my account in a few minutes without question. She also bumped me to 20GB. Makes me wonder why AT&T doesn't just do this for their customers and advertise it as a benefit.

That is true, hence why I opted to move on from my AT&T legacy plan and transferred to T-mobile, since their coverage is pretty good here in PNW. I can't imagine paying for more with AT&T having less features compared to what T-mobile offers. It's just another incentive/attempt to move people off the legacy unlimited plans.

I see this thread started way back in February. Can someone confirm if it still requires speaking to someone in retentions, or if regular reps can now add this?
No love for the grandfathered UDP again, sigh.
Good for you. I read about that on some other thread, unfortunately mine wasn't included for the minutes upgrade.I had my minute plan upgraded from the 450 to unlimited with no price increase and also have a $10 unlimited text plan and $35 for UDP, so before my discount I pay $85/month. After my discount I pay $73/month with taxes.
Yes it does, I just did it this weekend.
FYI, it looks like some changes are coming this Friday to the roaming plans.

How I read this, if you have the 15 gb plan or higher, you get roaming in Mexico the same as if it was domestic use. If you have an unlimited plan, you get both Canada and Mexico as if it was domestic.
Of course, an official press release by AT&T would be helpful to confirm these new options.
For anyone who has less that 15gb pool, I would try to sign up for the old Mexico (and Canada unless you have the unlimited plan) as hopefully those will be grandfathered in.
I don't interpret the new North America roaming plan and the existing Canada and Mexico bonus plans as mutually exclusive, because the latter are capped at 1GB of data, with additional charges applying beyond that. But since they were add-ons that you could only get through retentions, I agree that anyone who qualifies for them should get them now.

It will be interesting to see AT&T's press release on this. If true, it would be odd that being on a 15 GB MSV plan gets you unlimited data in Mexico and nothing in Canada. I know AT&T owns a telco in Mexico now, but they should still throw people who don't want to/can't switch to the "Unlimited" MSV plan a bone for Canada travel. That's especially the case considering it's possible to get unlimited talk, text, and 1 GB when traveling in both Mexico and Canada at no extra cost today.
Maybe they'll make the current offering (unlimited talk, text, and 1 GB of data in both Mexico and Canada) an included feature for all MSV plans that aren't "Unlimited" or are less than 15 GB? That seems to make sense to me considering that's what they'll give people who are on a MSV plan today.
Here's their press release

Are you on a MSV lower than 15GB right now? And still have the Canada/Mex Roaming bonus? Thanks for the link.
I have to say, that's a disappointing offering from AT&T. I trust I'll be able to keep my existing Mexico and Canada Roaming Bonuses, which, for my needs, make a whole heck of a lot more sense than going to either a 15 GB or higher or Unlimited MSV plan.
I am eligible for the "Unlimited" plan but I have no use for it since it doesn't allow any tethering. Giving customers no option to use even a small portion of the "Unlimited" bucket for tethering was an odd choice on AT&T's part. Oh well.

Good for you! I'd prolly keep that plan. It just sucks that they can't offer anything to the grandfathered UDP holders anymore.Correct. I am on a 6 GB MSV plan currently and I have both Mexico and Canada Roaming Bonuses. The Mexico bonus I could add to my account myself but getting the Canada bonus required calling and specifically asking for the Retention department. They gladly added it when I asked if they could.
The existing roaming bonuses offer unlimited talk and text in both Mexico and Canada when calling numbers in those countries or to U.S. numbers. However, the data offering is only 1 GB of data per month per line, which does not rollover. That's different from the new offerings, but I don't foresee needing more than 1 GB of data per line when in Mexico or Canada anyway.
