AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

Ordered my 8gig on 8/5 at around 12:30. Got confirmation at 3:00. Been waiting since. Status was at 0 for a few days and turned to backordered around Saturday night. I can't wait >.<
 
Got my 16G Black today ... took only 6 days from order in store to pickup in store. It was shipped 3rd day after the order. Was expecting at least 10-14 days. It was so quick I thought they sent white by mistake. I guess the backlog has ended.

Went through 10101 backorder thing
Showed as shipped 8/11 at 10PM EST
(Actually shipped 1:38PM from Texas)

Estimated delivery to store is 8/13 by 7:00PM



If you were near me you'd have seen the huge smile on my face 😀

I got my phone on a weekday at 9:45am, and I only waited behind one person. I only had to wait about five minutes before an associate walked up to me and said "Which version of the phone do you want?," went into the back room and came back in about one minute with my phone. Altogether, it took me about 30 minutes from the time I stepped in "line" to the time I walked back out of the store.

I agree with chinl. Not all of us are flippin' burgers for a living and can easily have someone cover for us. For many of us, we have careers that don't allow us to just dismiss responsibility whenever we feel like it. But i'll take that any day if that means I can buy 10 iphones with one paycheck instead of saving up for months to buy 1.
 
I called two Apple stores last night and both had plenty of iPhones in stock at 8PM. My only problem was deciding on which one to go to so I decided on the one with the easiest parking. Went there and got my iPhone. I also waited in line on July 11th to pick up my first iPhone.

I am very surprised to hear that people are still waiting for phones to ship when they are readily availabe at the Apple store with no lines.

apple stores arent everywhere like at&t. there is only one here in memphis and in west tennessee. id rather be patient and go to a convenient at&t store 5 minutes from my house, than drive way to the other side of the city, literally. just knowing i have one on the way keeps me happy.

anyways, i ordered my iPhone today at 1:45. will let you guys know how long it takes.

I think that if you were to read the thread, you'd see that the Apple store will not sell the iphone to just anyone.

e.g. you want to add a line to a family plan that has a discount.

There are also many other examples.
 
ordered my iphone on friday 8/8.. (fullerton, CA) and just got my shipping confirmation that it'll be here Friday 8/15 @ around 7pm... 7 days not bad 😛 hahaha i was getting annoyed from the 1 switching to 0 and back.
 
I bought my Phone on Sunday ((Pasadena, CA)) 8/10/08 Ive looked back some orders placed on the same day and those were shipped the next day. So whats the hold up. I hope it get it by this Sunday. Does Fedex ship on sundays??

no. sunday is not shipping day. it may go through processing at a hub. but fedex does not ship or pick up packages on sunday
 
Do you have to bring anything with you to AT&T when you go to pick up your iphone? Mine was delivered today and I'm going to head over there soon.
 
Have you guys tried the spy method?

When I waited for my phone to arive, I would track it down every 3 hours or so in the day. Since i would always get the same feedack (Backordered) I decided to track down order numbers before mine at ATT.com.

That way, it would tell me how many people before me were waiting and also what position I was in line.

After tracking down a few numbers before me, I found out that my phone would arrive 7 days after purchase because people here in E.P. would recieve them at around 7 days exact. And of course, it happenned.

I recieved my 8GB Black Iphone in 7 days.😀
