I clarified is reporting a sneaky way to find if your phone has shipped yet or not. They say it only works if you ordered from Apple, but who knows, maybe some smart guy can figure how to check on ATT orders. Here is the article.

I got my shipping notification email at 4:51am today. When I woke up at 9:00am, and checked my email it was the start of a great day! Already had the day off, so getting an email that my Rose Gold 64gb iPhone 6s has shipped was just icing on the cake! Mine says I will be getting it 9/24, who else is (supposedly) getting theirs a day early?

I would assume this is just an error and once the system updates again "receiving" will go to 9/25, though I HOPE I get mine on 9/24, haha!!!

Edit/Add: My phone is being shipped by FedEx.
