Nothing. Band 30 is for att. Thanks for all the info. What's the benefit of having the band 30 phone on Verizon?
Why are people going out and buying this phone and using it on Verizon and T-Mobile?Nothing. Band 30 is for att.
I didn't restore right away. I activated using the sim att gave me and the phone was unlocked. No congrats message, but Verizon and T-mobile SIMs worked fine.Reading is fundamental. Like I said its unlocked until you activate it. In your case, if you took the sim and restored right away, you would've gotten that congratulations message. I didn't do that, I activated and from what apple is claiming is that once activated Att locks it and it is no longer unlocked. I think this is the biggest crock of bull.
I think people are doing it for resale (idea being the phone with the most bands has the most potential buyers)Why are people going out and buying this phone and using it on Verizon and T-Mobile?
I'm likely going to exchange my 6S Plus (VZW) for a 6S and am intrigued by this.

You're not reading my post. I DID NOT DO A RESTORE. All I did was activate phone by putting my sim inside of new device prior to turning on. Once turned on, it acquired att signal and I then plugged into iTunes and received unlocked message. I then did iCloud restore, which is untethered and the phone IS NOT LOCKED. The phone doesn't get locked once activated if it's already unlocked.Reading is fundamental. Like I said its unlocked until you activate it. I did that last night just to test and see what the fuss is all about but that's not the case. I restored it and it still didn't get the congratulations message.
Full Price ATT bought from Apple.Did you buy yours full price device only from the Apple store? Or from AT&T or other vendor.

This does assume you pay full price.
Also, read up on how iPhone activation works. Technically no iPhone is unlocked until you activate it. In fact, until the baseband receives the activation ticket from Apple, it won't work on any carrier, even the intended one. The activation ticket Apple sends to the device depends on what Apple's database says. If you pay full price or receive a carrier unlock, the activation server sends a wildcard ticket.

I just bought my new iPhone 6s(at&t full price) from apple store and plugged in my own at&t SIM card. I found my phone can call, text, do anything except connect to net. However, it showed 4g. Can anyone help me fix this? Is my phone unlocked or locked?
nice digitalFX I plan on returning my VZN iPhone 6S and getting the AT&T iphone 6S 64gb model since it has band 30 I think it's worth it to me since I'm on Straight Talk which is a MVNO of AT&T.
Cool elf42o, I'm also using straight talk AT&T network. Have you tried their verizon network at all. I ordered my 6s a couple of weeks ago and it should be coming tomorrow. I ordered the a1633 AT&T from BestBuy. I was told it should come unlocked since I paid full price but I'm not sure. I just can't wait to test on Straight Talk's Verizon and AT&T networks. I spoke with a Verizon rep today and she told me that because it is the a1633 version and contains the CDMA bands that they should have no problem whitelisting it, but she told me to try to activate the Straight Talk Verizon SIM first with ST reps, which is likely to be difficult.
I spoke to a rep on the phone a couple days ago and she assured me of this. Now all I have to do is wait for my 6s to arrive! They will whitelist phones?! Was this a Verizon rep in a store you were speaking to?
