So, how they changed it so that people that purchased an iPhone on launch could upgrade? Yeah, it's not really the story. The story is that you have to have atleast 100$ a month charged to your phone specifically in order to be eligible and have bought a phone on launch. SO my situation, still on family plan since my parents make more than me...thanks mom and dad...because my phone particularly only costs 10$ a month on the family plan...I am not eligible. Way to go AT&T! Bite me.

Just another spoil brat!!!! Arhhhh

Why do you care? Not many people "need" an iPhone, a regular smartphone would probably do. They like it. Kids under 18 might like the iPhone, you don't know this story. He could be paying how much the iPhone costs and then his parents pick up the monthly service. Who knows?

In the same vein, the OP obviously doesn't understand contractual agreements, but still, calling spoiled on any kid who has something that you deem to be excessive is a little bit played out.

Actually, I was baiting the OP. I fully expected him to say he was over 18, which would then raise the question why someone over that age is still on their parent's account.

Touche. Although plenty of parents help support them when their son/daughter is in college. I have a ton of friends in college who are on family plans, it's definitely not rare.

But seriuosly, OP, you don't deserve an early upgrade price.

No att should just chip in 400 dollars whenever you want to get a new phone without you having to pay anything.

I'm so tired of this topic... Even more tired of this reply. Seriously, enough with the At&t fanboy replies.

Open your own AT&T account and you can get the subsidized price.

Problem solved!

And I have no problem with that. But given the OP's lack of understanding of economics, I assumed he/she wasn't a college student.

It's more of a "contractual agreements are a bedrock of our legal system and we get tired of hearing people say that they are somehow entitled to special treatment even though they signed a contract" reply. Sorry.

I really hope not.

blah blah blah blah blah,

Everything you're saying has been said a thousand times in this forum for the past week. Don't give me the "I'm more American than you because I stand up for our legal system" garbage.

It's a contract. That's all there is to it. If people didn't whine about something they signed, people like me wouldn't have to respond with such correct, common-sense answers.

I think we were the victim of a Drive-By Bitching. The OP has never responded.

Believe it or not, I think the OP was a victim of a massive ego-ectomy.

Ego-ectomy: What occurs when someone is responded to with such force and logic that they can't help but lose their delusional sense of grandeur.

boo hoo. get off the family plan if you want a new iphone so badly. otherwise stop complaining... you have a ten dollar a month iphone bill. nothing to complain about.

Allowing early upgrade prices for people who pay more via their contract makes perfect sense.

Sorry, but you have no argument in this case.

He does have an argument. If you want to keep your customer base happy, this is not the way to do it.

They have to somehow make up the $400 they loaned you to get the phone....they do that quicker through higher priced monthly plans. It's really quite simple.

The OP is not entitled to a cheaper phone because AT&T hasn't made up the cost of the last one yet.

Now, back to the waaaambulance posting...

I had to switch my primary line to my brother's blackberry to get premier discount (Because of the whole iPhone/Premier discount bull that Att had last year), so even though I am the primary the entire bill was on his line, hence I had to pay $500 for my iphone. But I didn't mind paying $200 extra, I have been saving about $40 a month for the past 2 years.

Edit:
One more for the whiner:

Its people like you that really irk me. No common sense or understanding of how life works. Instead you go off expecting handouts all through life.

Everyone is biting this kid's head off because he's bitching because he can't get an upgrade...and yet the people who upgraded to the 3G are ALSO bitching because they can't get an upgrade either. So...everyone's wrong? He's wrong...but so are all of the ADULTS bitching that they should get an early upgrade price from AT&T because they're 'iPhone' owners. Sorry, but that's a bunch of crap. EVERY SINGLE carrier does it the same--you have a CONTRACT for a reason. It just bugs the hell out of me that 'iPhone owners' feel they poop gold and should get upgrade pricing every year for every new phone. NOT HOW IT WORKS!

Let me ask you this: Do you think At&t is offering a handout to 3G owners by allowing early upgrades?

personally... i'm not bitching. since i'm not bitching, i have the right to "bite this kid's head off" because i understand that this is the free market system and adam smith's invisible hand will correct things itself. (ex. att lowering the time table for early upgrade best pricing because they probably didn't receive enough pre-orders)

anyway...

Tell you the truth that is pretty common. to be over the age of 18 and still on your parents plan. I was 25 when I got off my parents plan. That also lines up when I got out of college.

I have quite a few friend on their own still on their parents plans. They just pay their parents for their part of the bill. Reason being is it is cheaper. People parents still need about the same level of a family plan or can not go any lower. Why should some one spend an extra 60 bucks a month when just sitting on their parents is cheaper. Dropping the line for the parents might net them an extra 10-15 a month which their kid is paying them for any how. Works out great for the families involved.
