I would if they still offered unlimited data. I even got my parents who have unlimited data on their Verizon iPhones to see if they could add a new line and have unlimited. Nope, new line = tiered data. Plus Verizon would probably be more a month then what I pay now with AT&T.

Just do the unlimited data trick and one problem solved.

What unlimited data trick??

Wait, so AT&T will let you have a family plan on the 450 minutes plan?

And, also, I'm pretty sure unlimited text messaging was already $20. If anything, you were merely paying above the current rate and AT&T obviously wasn't going to tell you preemptively

Family unlimited messaging with free unlimited mobile to any mobile minutes is $30, I'm actually getting a $10 discount. According to the AT&T lady she put a special code to allow the family plan with only 450 minutes, said that in average, the 5 lines that we have use 170 minutes a month calling landlines

This thread makes me sad :(. I want free goodies

Call them up and threaten to leave. Whether you feel that's lying for personal gain or not is on your own conscience as only you know if you're seriously considering leaving AT&T or have a legitimate gripe.

I got retention to give me $25 off for 3 months as consolation for not moving up my November upgrade date. I'll take it. makes my entry price much less.

I was offered $20 for the unlimited text plan ($10 off every month for the life of the plan) or free 6 months of texting. I also got a $40 credit for the next 3 months. Not as great as some others on here, but I feel satisfied.

I tried numerous times. They won't give me squat.

the credit seems cool
i really was planning on leaving for sprint since coverage isnt bad and the price through ERPP is better but ill probably stay now

They don't give out stuff just to anyone who asks. How long have you been a customer? How much money to you spend with them? How often do you call to complain? I imagine there are any number of criteria they use to determine how far they go to keep a customer.

And I would also imagine that some customers they'd rather see go to the competition...

and as you cleverly noted, not every customer is someone they want to keep...

Ever wonder why Progressive did their compare insurance rates website? Good to get new customers, but also good to encourage the departure of customers they don't want to keep... :D

Maybe we're grandfathered in? I still see it on my account too, and under "Usage" see the minutes I'm not paying for because of it.

Everybody who has A-List is grandfathered in as you stated. So no customers/existing customers who do not have A-List cannot get it added. However, those of us with it, get to keep it.

Ive been with them for 4 years and my bill is usually $122 a month. Sometimes it's more because I go over my data cap. My bill is always paid on time in full.

Hmmm, I might have to give them a call tomorrow. Have any of you that had success recently upgraded to the 4S? I didn't know how seriously they'd take me when I tell them I'm leaving seeing as how I just renewed a 2 year contract. I have been with them for roughly 10 years(bell south mobility, cingular, now att), my bill has been on average $250 for the past 5 years and its always paid on time. They did manage to give me a free microcell last year, so I guess I can't complain to much!

I got the $20 unlimited text, mobile to mobile promotion and $50 credit. Had 3 lines on the 550 minutes plan but adding the 4th line for the 4s I had to move to the 700 minute plan. Customer service told me that for the 550 minute plan was limited to only 3 lines and I would have to go to the 700 minute plan for 4 lines.

OP how did you get 5 lines on the 550 plan???

I'm on a corporate discount but i plan on calling in 3 weeks and seeing if i can get maybe a 25/mo credit..25 less i have to pay..

and no idont feel bad. they charge to much period. I have friends in other country that pay the same and get 100x what we get.better speeds and everything.

450 actually, and like I said, She told me that she had to enter a special code in order to allow 5 lines, I asked multiple times if she was sure, then offered 3000 rollover minutes in the remote case that 450 are not enough
Again, I didn't ask for a single thing, she just kept on offering deals, the $200 discount appeared immediately as well as the 3000 rollover minutes, in any case that the plan and text messaging deals don't appear by my next billing cycle, I will call once and inquire about it, calmly, but in all honesty I'm happy only with the $200 :-D

This all seems cool and dandy but make sure y'all check your future statements for these discounts. I have been promised "discounts" by AT&T in the past over the phone and they never materialized on my statements. Calling them back to try and explain the offers I accepted got me nowhere. AT&T is notorious for this "used car salesman" bait and switch tactic. It's part of the "horrible" customer service they offer.

But I'm not leaving them cuz there's no 4G iPhone yet and I'm not gonna crawl on Verizon's or Sprints network via 3G.

She gave me $200 in credit immediately, lowered my unlimited messaging to $20 a month, moved me to the 450 minutes 39.99 plan, and we have free mobile to any mobile minutes, and gave me, 3000 roll over minutes just in case that 450 minutes are not enough
High five
:-D

Is the $20 unlimit family messaging perpetual, or just for a few months?

I will give them a ring tomorrow, been with them over 8 years, always pay my bill onetime. I hope they can offer me some better deal, was thinking switching to Verizion or Sprint for better coverage.
