Reminds me the growing pains Verizon had when they first came out with LTE. Several nationwide outages. Ahhh, the good old days.

They were turning on LTE in some cities so that was probably some of the problem...did enjoy reading some of the people freaking out because LTE went out hahaha

It's more likely that they botched a software upgrade. Anyway, you don't need to wake up. I am sure AT&T would contact the FBI if this were due to a cyberattack. If this were really a cyberattack it would be a big risk (of retaliation) for little effect for any bad actor. Come on, this is not even making it into the news.

By the way, I have also not seen LTE this evening around San Jose downtown (at around 7pm and after), and other areas around San Jose. I only see 4G support. Not a big deal for me at this moment. I can live with that. Hopefully they'll fix it before tomorrow. I have good Wi-Fi for now :)

Quick correction. Just changed to LTE a few seconds ago as I was writing.

Don't worry, he took the time to message me and tell me how he works for the DoD and how I should be worried about national security and how huawei is plotting our demise. He even use my (first) name and my state in the message. I told him I'm more worried about enjoying life, instead of wasting my time with stressing and worrying about what china may or may not do. >_>

Survive yes, but that isn't the issue. The bigger picture is "what could possibly cause the national LTE grid to go down?"

The entire country is connected via independent towers, each tower has its own fiber line - each line is connected to a sub station through a commercial ISP, etc. The system is this way for technical limitations like the distance of radio waves and traffic volume, but also somewhat for redundancy. Some towers run off of AT&T or Verizon owned lines, but most get leased through AMT (American Tower Corp).

We are the USA - the pride jewel of the west... a sitting target for all that hate us. The internet only makes it easier to invade our space from across the globe. Iran and China are hitting are servers DAILY. They like to probe, to play, and to test.

When there is an outage like this (of this magnitude) you MUST ask yourself how and why. Breach of security?

Way to overreact there buddy. It happens. Verizon had some outages when they rolled out LTE too - nationwide outages. Nothing to get worked up over.

Yea it was hilarious when Verizon rolled out lte the entire data network went down several times , I was rocking my ATT phone making fun of my co workers still to this day do .

It was nation wide data issue not local that's why it was funny, never in my life while I have had AT&T has it had a melt down like that. You guys issue was a local problem only
