Since the first iphone came out I have always been with AT&T. Every year for iphone releases they move up the upgrade dates so customers can get the new iphone on launch. I been eligible for a full upgrade on my line on launch dates. Does anyone know if they will do that again this year? I just checked my lines and they all say 9/15/2014

I am almost positive AT&T quit doing this.

Last year around the iPhone 5 got released my dad's line was eligible for an upgrade, around december for christmas I was going to buy it for him and they said he was not eligible anymore.

I had taken a screenshot of the message saying he way, and they did honor that but I think its something they do just around the time of the launch and they revert back

Yes I always get them on Launch date. I have a bad feeling about this year though

I was not up for an upgrade until Sept 2014 but they will let me upgrade on Friday because I have been with them since 2002, so I guess that helps.

Saving107- will they honor your early upgrade by purchasing online/from apple/etc? Or, do you have to call Att on the 20th for your override upgrade to be acknowledged?

Pretty sure they stopped doing this. And even if they did allow it, you will definitely have to visit a corporate location to get them to honor it since Apple's handheld systems will not be able to do any overrides.

I really don't see how they would let you upgrade earlier for an iPhone and then weeks later say you can't upgrade.. I upgraded December 2012 and my next upgrade is July 2014.. If this is true, I want in!

I have to call in and order by phone, I can not go into Apple or AT&T.

I did the same thing for my mom's phone a few months ago, I got them to let me upgrade her line early because I wanted it to be a birthday gift (iPhone 5) but they would only let me upgrade over the phone.

My brother called and they would not let him upgrade my mom's line, so he authorized me and I called about an hour later and they let me upgrade her line. Not sure if that matters but thats what happened.

soo I just called AT&T and no one at the store heard of this lol Im in Pennsylvania. But while on the phone they mentioned the AT&T Next program which is a scam in my opinion. Although you get a device every year you have to return the device you got last year when you upgraded. Are you kidding me? You pay extra every month for the phone and then you cant keep it? I rather wait every 24 months.

so this is possible? you just have to call over the phone? haha I could just sell my Note 2 for 350 and pay for the upgrade that way.

LAst years and years before I was able to pre order on the apple website the second they launched online.

I just got off the phone with a Supervisor and just like Savings107 said. Once it launches they will change my upgrades from an early upgrade to a full upgrade $199 for the 16GB on the iPhone 5S. They said I cannot do it at a corporate store or at apple online by calling them 611. They put notes on my account so I am good once again I will upgrade my 5 lines from the 5 to the 5S :)

I read they are also requiring a full 24 months between phones, rather than 18 months. You can always pay the
extra $250 for an early upgrade.

The new Next program will let you upgrade and get a new phone every year.

ATT does give some perks to some high value customers.

They may not give you an early upgrade to the $199 upgrade price. But they could "cough cough" give your account a $250 credit. Which essentially is giving u a $199 full upgrade.

There are quite a few ways around the ATT system. Just don't abuse it. Don't ask for "credits" or "favors" more than every 6-12 months.

Cant wait until you try to cash in on the "full upgrade" on Friday. I guess you think the magical notes on your account will magically allow you to upgrade come Friday.

good luck

Can you guys provide more info on bargaining? Did you have to threaten to leave or just asked nicely?

How would threatening to leave, or threatening anyone in retail/sales ever work in your favor?

I've worked in retail and if you came in demanding anything or asking for discounts, well you're going to have a bad time. Nothing makes me more mad than self-entitledment.
