I have a completed order, with an order number. I printed out the receipt.

No email and the order check on AT&T gives me the error mentioned above.

It does say order placed within 24 hours might not show.

I would expect an email almost immediately so I'm a little worried.

Not getting too concerned, will check tomorrow.

Well, after 15 hours and 10 minutes, I was able to place my order... ANd I got my email while the page was still loading... So now, let the wait begin!!!!!

I did mine around 7:15 to 7:30am at AT&T. Started off with Apple.com, the charge didn't look right. So, I went to AT&T instead(Yes, the site was up and down). My order went through and received the email confirmation almost within a min after I submitted the order. This an email that contains the activation code needed to activate the phone according to email confirmation. I hope those who didn't receive it will get the email later.

You may want to check your SPAM-email folder, just in case.

email confirmation came about 2 mins after ordering through at&t's website. Check order status 20 mins later, it says order received.

Okay I got this but no email yet and they charge my business debit-card well its processing right now. Why does it say back-order?

I received the email confirmation, but when I log in to check the status of my order, I get this... Why the exclamation mark?

status.gif

Got the same. I used a debit card at the online store. I called them to make sure that wasn't going to choke my order. They tell me:
-after a few let me look into it, give me your number, will be right back pauses-
"We do standard security reviews of orders placed with us. If anything is out of line we will send an email to the address that you submitted with your order that explains the problem"
"So I can fix the problem, if any, then?"
"Yes"

So, take it for what that is worth.

Anyone else get a confirmation email but still can't view order status online?

Maybe it's because I'm not a current AT&T customer (I'm porting 2 numbers over from Verizon)?

Literally exact same situation except for the fact that i am porting 4 numbers

Ahh, the next morning and still no email.

I was getting worried seeing all this sellout talk.
I just logged into AT&T and for once my order number shows information.

I am so relieved.

I ordered on AT&T yesterday at 10:18am EST. Two iPhones on a new Family Plan porting 2 numbers from Verizon.

I got the confirmation email yesterday immediately. The website order status page didn't have my order yesterday at all.

This morning, it looks like everything is fine. The order status site shows my order (finally).

My same situation. But I'm still trying to call the web sales department so they verify that my payment will/has went through.

I ordered at about 5:00 am EDT and mine has zeros next to the backorders, not ones. What time did you place your order.? AT&T stated that orders placed on Tuesday afternoon would not be delivered on the 24th. They did not give a cut-off time for June 24th delivery though.

BTW - I never got a confirmation e-mail either. Out of curiosity I placed the order as an equipment upgrade, not as a new account. Wonder if that made any difference.....

From Endgadget:

"BGR's reporting that AT&T's launch day allocation of iPhone 4s is now sold out, and anyone who got in the door after 1:30PM Pacific Time will get their unit some time between June 25 and July 5. Frankly, we have no idea how anyone managed to get a pre-order in, let alone enough to sell out -- but everyone who did deserves a pat on the back and a high-five.

Update: We've gotten the official statement from AT&T, and it's true, though you still might be able to waltz in on launch day without a pre-order and pick up one of the unallocated units:

"Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We'll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24.""
