I have been following this thread for awhile and since I now have some noteworthy information I figured I would share it to instill some hope in the hearts of my fellow ATT customers.
(All in central time)
I ordered 2 iphone 6 plus's: a 64 gb SG at 2:03 am, confirmed at 3:15 am and a 64 gb Gold at 2:06 am, confirmed at 3:23 am.
I received the gold yesterday, which was my wife's phone (wives phones arriving first has been a trend), and my phone shipped this morning at 4 am and I'll get it tomorrow.
In both instances my orders on the 877 number were back ordered, and switched to processing a few hours before shipping confirmation.
Hang in there folks, the phones are coming.
I will also add that ATT did screw this up big time. I am a "premier" customer, but I only first heard of that through this thread, and it's only because I receive a discount. I wouldn't read too much into that.
