I just chatted online with premier support, and they said that since I ordered it this morning (6:30am central) it will arrive on the 14th. I also show 7-21 day shipping on my order status, but the rep said this doesn't matter.

And that is correct. The same issue happend when the 4 released. They populate the date in there as a default. Apple does all the fulfillment and when they begin to process, which should soon, the date will move. I ordered from Apple, because if anyone would screw it up it would be AT&T, but I did order the iPad from them and it had the same dating issue.

Just relax, that is all I can say.
 
Oh!... I didn't realize that the AT&T site was your only option to pre-order from!

I ordered from At&t last year and received mine day before release. So your logic isn't always true

I was going crazy for a moment there. This will be my first time getting the iPhone on launch and am pretty excited, and as a result I couldn't bare to think of it being delivered late.
 
So I also received the 14-21 shipping estimate e-mail. I called ATT to inquire into this and got the following response from two separate people. There was a 4:00 PM EST cutoff. If you ordered before then, you will get the Iphone on the 14th. If you ordered after then, you will get in 14-21 days.

I proceeded to tell her that I ordered the phone at 8:00 A.M. through ATT customer support after not being able to order it through ATT website or Apple website. She confirmed that I placed the order at 7:58 AM exactly, but stated that her computer shows that the order was processed at 4:01 PM. She doesn't understand why that happened to my order but said that explains why I got the 14-21 day e-mail.

Anyway, this really blows and ATT is one of the most incompetent companies I've ever dealt with. I feel foolish making such a big deal about a phone, but I got up at 3 AM because this is something I really wanted. To make matters even worse, my girlfriend was able to order her phone through verizon a few minutes before 3AM and in about 5 minutes.

I'm just hoping ATT is wrong with the 14-21 day shipping estimate.
 
AT&T SUCKS!!!!

Tried to order on Premier site. The tab for ordering is screwed up on my landing page. Went to the store yesterday to ask them if they could help. They said no, just come in at 9:00, and we can order you one for next Friday. So this morning 9:00.....ok, you can have it shipped in 14-21 days....REALLY!!! Or you can wait in live next Friday, and maybe we'll get some in, first come first serve. REALLY!!!

So I went ahead and ordered it to be delivered, assuming they are idiots, and I will get it next Friday, like I always have.

Then I get an email from ATT stating:

Dear Andrew Anderson,

Thank you for your recent order. Your iPhone will ship in approximately 14 to 21 days*. All orders are processed on a first come, first served basis.

Now I actually am still expecting it next Friday, but they look like Ass Clowns...again!!

I tried ordering through Premier and it wouldn't let me add a data plan. I called and they suggested I order through the regular consumer site and then go into a store with a pay stub to get my corporate discount. Sigh.

You realize this thread is talking about AT&T Premier (FAN) and we could not order through Apple because the upgrade verification system was not working for FAN account.

Any way, I order from AT&T Premier around 5am, email said ships on the 14th and the rep I talked to this afternoon said it would arrive on the 14th as well

I was up at 4:30 EST and flipped constantly back and forth through Apple and AT&T websites. At 5:30 am EST I was able to order only through AT&T. I do have a FAN discount. I immediately received an email that it will arrive on 10/14. Like everyone else, their website says backordered and will ship in 14-21 days. I'm crossing my fingers that what is on this board is accurate, and the website is simply generic, and next Fri I will have my long awaited phone.
 
Maybe it's just a generic computer generated message if it's a pre order phone (14-21 days) ?

On each of the 3 times it actually worked, the site told my to "finish my order by visiting my local Apple Store."

I'm on an island in the middle of the Pacific.

The nearest Apple Store is Honolulu (by jet or boat...)

I wasn't going to spend $300 or so to buy a plane ticket to visit my local store to finish my order.

After giving up on Apple's website, I ordered via the Apple Store iPhone App. It gave me a reservation number and told me I'd get an email as to when I could complete my order.

2 hours later, Apple emails me, and says, "We can't process your order right now. Bring your reservation number to your local Apple Store to complete your order..." :mad:

So...

I go to AT&T's website and in 5 minutes my order is in.

They might ship a week (or 6) later than Apple, but at least they didn't ask me to buy plane tickets and fly anywhere...
 
Although, you have to wonder, how much does the generic info cost ATT in customer service calls?

You got that right!! I have had 2 one plus hour calls myself. They should have some to spare with the money they have made from the iPhone.

My main line is Premier and I wasn't able to preorder by adding a line so I ended up starting a new line and preordering that way. Mine says delivered by October 14.

Once I get the phone I'll call AT&T and merge the accounts.

Okay, you're right. I guess it was an example of a "First World Problem".

Anyway, we have a nice easy pace on the islands here, a week or so won't matter in the grand scheme of things.

This whole message board is a bunch of "first world problems". I guess this is my annual participation in the consumerist madness. I'd better go for a walk in the woods tomorrow!
 
At about 3:30 CDT, I tried to order from my iP4 the my computer using the Apple site with no luck. Then after about 10 minutes I tried the ATT site (Premier) and after 4 tries it went through. I got one confirmation email saying it will ship on or about Oct. 13th and when I check my order status on the ATT site it shows me the same thing that sevimli posted.

I understand that, but most of the people asking about the shipping times were those that ordered as soon as possible (ie before 6am EST)...eventually FAN accounts could order on both Apple and AT&T because AT&T finally fixed their upgrade eligibility system
