I would trust an ATT rep as far as I could throw him/her. I went through a phase where I had to record them every time I talked to them. Their system is almost as bad as Charter's.

stop acting like what one rep told you is gospel. you made this thread but we are correcting you. I could call att 10 times talk to 10 different reps and get 10 different answers. Dont listen to reps. ever.

Notice how every time I told a piece of information, I started with " The rep said... "

I have no problem being corrected, I'm just saying according to the information I received.

Thank you for your purchase from the AT&T Premier Online Store. We're pleased with your choice of AT&T as your wireless service provider.

Your iPhone has been reserved and is expected to be delivered on Oct 14, 2011.

Man!

Man, my AT&T order from over the phone at 07:30 PST on order day STILL doesn't show any status even tough.

A) My cc has been CHARGED the full amount
B) I have received the "you MUST accept these T&C's before we proceed" which I already did.

I put in the order number on the status page and there is just nothing.

Hey guys, I know a lot of threads have been made about this, but it seems like people are very uneasy about what they're to believe.

I became curious myself, so I called AT&T. The rep I talked to said as of now, every single pre-order is to be shipped on the 14th still. There are no pre-orders on back order, yet.

Now, she said they're being shipped on the 14th, which means it may not be on your doorstep on the 14th. She said it all depends on how long it takes to go through UPS and to get to your house. So, based on your location, you might get it Friday or a day or two after.

I also asked about last years early delivery for some customers and she said she has heard no word about that. She knew what I was talking about, but said they haven't been told about any early shipments.

Once again, I know tons of threads are just like this, I just wanted to let the uneasy people know what I heard.

OP, your post makes no sense. If they ship it on the 14th, that means it is largely impossible that it will arrive to anyone on Friday (the 14th). Your ambiguous wording leads me to believe that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Relax people. If you ordered from ATT early enough on Friday October 7th you will get it by Friday Ocotber 14th.

Please remember last year the same stuff happened. The same stuff happened in 2009.

Of note. Many people will ge the iPhone 4s possible a day earlier if history repeats itself.

My brother and wife got their iPhone 4 on June 23 2010 one day before the iPhone 4's official release date of June 24th. I got my on June 24th. So it's hit or miss if you get lucky and get it October 13th but you will definately get it October 14th.

confused

What I don't really understand (okay, I DO understand but bear with me for the sake of discussion)

Is WHY THE HECK HASN'T AT&T GOTTEN ANY BETTER AT THIS IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS!!!!

I mean, we've done FIVE iterations of this online order, pre-order, no pre-order crap. Shouldn't they have gotten the process, systems, online order logistics, online order management, communications, confirmations, inventory management, shipping logistics RIGHT BY NOW!!!

Am I just expecting tooo much from a global fortune 50 corporation?

Are they INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO SCREW PEOPLE OVER! Not allowing EASY continuation of the unlimited data plans or 5$ foot long messaging?

NOT sending out the proper email confirmation, or order confirmations? (I have NO IDEA how I have NOT received an order confirmation and yet my Credit Card has been charged for the full amount!)

I mean, really, If I was running this business, I would FIRE PEOPLE and get it RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!

This is the way this whole shipping process works.

The phones get shipped from overseas into Alaska. Then the majority get sent to the Louisville UPS hub where they get dispersed back out. If they send some out Monday they get into Louisville on Tuesday. Those do not get sent out to their next city until Thursday night when the Thursday night load operation. Then they arrive in their destination cities Friday early morning and moved out to trucks or other centers and then put on trucks.

This is the same way it works across all the shipping companies. 99.9% of you should expect your phone on Friday. A few will fall thru the cracks and show up Thursday or possibly as early as Wednesday but do not let your current estimated tracking date be of any help on that.

So the reason it may show arrival on the 12th is because they know that it takes X many days to make it to your home. That computer system is not taking into account that these arrive on pallets with 100's of phones with supervisors knowing those get stored for a few days. Which will then turn your deliver date into the 14th.

Your welcome for the Shipping 101 brought to you by a part time UPS employee.

My AT&T order status no longer says backordered.
doesnt mean anything they said. just that it hasnt been sent out yet. their systems are programmed to say that automatically if it hasnt physically been shipped on a business day when you placed the order

:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::D

All of this confusion is exactly why you NEVER order directly from AT&T if you have the option to order with Apple.

Right, please don't post it in the first place. It is incorrect and all it is going to do is confuse people.

Because they want to take the cheapest route possible for this...and if anything could quicken this up but cost a few bucks more, there is just no way AT&T would spend a bit of their consolidated revenue of $32 billion for 2010...on that. No way possible. Just can't afford it.

That sounds all fine and dandy, but some of us ordered the phone early in the morning on Friday only to have AT&T forget how credit cards work and try and charge when they've got a hold on the credit card already only to have the card company reject the charge, naturally. I didn't receive notification that my credit card company rejected the charge until after noon on the 8th because for "security reasons" AT&T won't email my email address information about my phone despite the address's being associated with my number; they email it instead to the person with the first phone on the account. I have to wait until they decide to forward emails I should be receiving in the first place. If the reports are correct and I lost my place in the queue because of a screw-up on AT&T's end I won't receive the phone that they've charged me for another 21 days. That's unacceptable.

I don't personally care whether or not I receive the phone on the 14th. I just want a straight answer from AT&T as to what's been going on, and I don't want $300+ tied up for nearly a month. If it was going to take me a month to get the phone to begin with I wouldn't have preordered the thing to begin with.
