not a huge at&t fan...actually, not a fan of any telcoms or cable companies for that matter.

anyway, i wonder if the top guys at verizon ever regret their decision to not partner with apple...with at&t recording massive profits and with verizon just announcing a loss and a bunch of layoffs, one can only imagine what would have happened had verizon capitulated to apple's demands and carried the iphone...

Make sure you're talking about Verizon Wireless (VZW), not Verizon Communicatons (landlines). Verizon Communcations is the company that just announced the loss and the lay-offs, not VZW. Verizon Wireless is a different company than Verizon Communications, and the two companies financials aren't reported as one.

Nope... the iPad uses the new microSIM card. Not the same size as the one in the iPhone.
Some light reading on the subject.

*sigh* this could be a deal breaker for me. any idea if i could just take out the entire sim try and put it in? cause i read that the connectors are the same on the reg sim and the micro sim.

or can i get a microsim and a iphone microsim adapter and move my things to there?

You do not say how much of those numbers are reflected by the merger with AllTel though. That makes a huge difference...and over time, things will even out. Actually, AT&T in 4Q took in 2.7 million and VZW took in 2.2.

I had Verizon for 8 years and liked the service, the phone selection I always struggled with though. Seems like lately they have picked their game up. I switched to AT&T for the iPhone and have been happy with my service. I actually get better service at my house now with AT&T. I live in the Chicago land area and AT&T is pretty close to VZW.

I believe if VZW would of been smart and got the iPhone, their network would be taking a huge huge hit. We'll never know b/c they will NEVER be the only network with the iPhone. I am looking forward to other networks getting the iPhone b/c that will only help AT&T's network.

Verizon's problem is they have a dying technology...CDMA. Verizon I believe won't get the iPhone till 2011 when LTE is live and like said above, it is only CDMA/LTE so the iPhone for VZW will not have something to fall back on the iPhone will like with AT&T or t-mobile.

Alltel merger actually raised VZW's churn rate for the worse.

AT&T Wireless gets 1 million e-reader subscribers --- wow, these are $2 a month for AT&T Wireless. A million of these --- 2 million dollars.

What we have here is VZW getting more postpaid subscribers than ATTW, and ATTW getting more of these useless $2 a month subscribers.

No point for Verizon to get the iphone if VZW already can attract more postpaid subscribers and they have overall higher total ARPU and data ARPU.
