Really it should be YMMV. Some folks are having luck, others have found their account audited and it removed.

Best bet if you really want it, is try again if you get shot down. It sounding like the word is slowly getting out to the reps tho. Few more weeks and you prob won't be able to find a rep to do it.

Something new a lot of people are talking about is Straightalk (owned by Tracfone *shudders*, I worked for them for 5 years, hate that place). Anyway, you can take any att/gsm iphone to them, even if its not unlocked, and get unlimited data and everything for 45 dollars per month, and 15 dollars for the sim card upfront. No contract. The coverage is the same as att, and supposedly the data is as fast as att or better, since they use the same towers. You need to be jailbroken in order to set up MMS, but even if your not jailbroken you can still do everything but MMS. I think the one thing you cant do is visual voicemail, but you could get Youmail or a third party app for that. For me personally, Im staying with ATT simply because I like upgrading my Iphone every year for 200 or 300 bucks, but for some here that are getting throttled it may be a good solution:

Topics like this make me giggle a little bit on the insides. I know it's frustrating so far there is no clear answer to the cell phone sadness. All cell phone carriers suck. I have used each of the big 4 and have issues with each of them. So far I am going to stick it out with ATT because I get unlimited mobile to mobile something that verizon does not do and that's a killer for me. I'm not going to spend 120 bucks a month because I need more then 450 minutes. If VZW threw in unlimited mobile to mobile to all carriers with their unlimited texting like ATT i'd probably jump ship.

Verizon does have unlimited mobile to mobile any carrier. I have it now. Only in texas and LA
