Regarding straight talk configuration I found this:

Except for the edge part, it sounds good. Edge makes a lot of the iphone/smartphone features practically unusable. Deal breaker for me. There is a BIG difference between edge and 3g. If you use any data intense function at all on a regular basis, you will definitely appreciate the bump in speed.
I came to the iphone from a 4g Android phone, and even that drop in speed has been tangible. I couldn't imagine dropping down to full-time edge data. Not worth it IMO.
Edge is not that bad.
Pandora loads just fine with no skips on the 2G spectrum.
Most webpages even with a few graphics will load reasonably.
GPS will have a delay, but the map will keep up with a moving vehicle.
You are unhappy with changes made to a pay (presumably, since Verizon doesn't have the iPhone, I suppose you could do pay as you go on TMO and hardly get to use your data plan.)
the iPhones on Verizon.
Oh, and my tethering is free.

hmm I thought I read on the straight talk site said no tethering? They haven't figured out how to shut it off or something?
Looks like they posted changes "finally". It would be interesting to see if they lifted the 1.5GB total cap but I don't feel the need to wrestle with their website to find out. FWIW I have about 1.3GB available on my account now and I don't see any conflicts in adding the 1GB package, so I guess it went up to something beyond 2.5GB.

In my $25/mo account I now see these options;
International Long Distance
$10 International Long Distance Feature $10.00
Data Packages
Data 50MB $5.00
Data 200MB $15.00
Data 1GB $25.00
Right, I ordered my SIM for straight talk.
I have a 4S so I don't think I am going to be able to do the special MMS Setting that apparently requires a jailbreak. But anyway that doesn't work with Go Phone either.
You don't need to jailbreak to set up the MMS settings. With the iPhone 4S, there is a "hot SIM swap" method that exposes the MMS setting values. There is also another method that works for non-4S iPhones that should also work that does not require a jailbreak.Right, I ordered my SIM for straight talk.

I honestly think that was a really stupid move on AT&T's part....requiring a person to have $25 or $50 plan in order to subscribe to a data plan.....I always have had a AT&T Prepaid back up sim card that is still active which I use on short trips to the states....because not always I'm there for month(s) so don't need to pay $45 to straight talk and would jus pay $25 for the data...but now even thats a goner.
so can you still get the $25 plan with no data on an iPhone?
These new at&t prepaid plans are actually very good voice plans, much cheaper than what I get with postpaid for heavy talkers and heavy texters. Do these plans work with iphones and windows phones?
really? you think:
$50/Month
- 250 Talk
- Unlimited Texting
- 1GB Data
or
$75/Month
- Unlimited Nation Wide Talk & Text
- 1GB Data
is excellent? I feel kinda bad for you....have a look at these options and tell me how good they are, I think your mind will be BLOWN...:

If you look at AT&T's normal voiceplans, unlimited talk + unlimited text + 3 GB data is $120/month plus tax. If you are a heavy talker, meaning more than 4000 minutes per month, $75 is a heck of a lot better plan, and 1 GB data is a good amount of data. If you talk a lot, your phone dies quick and you don't have battery to even use more than 1 gb of data.
All those other plans in that link are from no name companies that change plans whenever they want, throttle data, and go out of business easily. I bet most people would rather stick with at&t and verizon rather then red pocket, etc, even though their using the same network.
