Did anyone lose their data?

Yes I lost my data; 200 mb that I have been carrying for a while by paying $5 a month. I called in to discuss and they were going to give me the 200 mb back if I switched to the $25 monthly plan... needless to say I was not impressed. The attitude of the CSRs are amazing. The guy matter of fact says to me "well you could switch to the $50 a month plan" when I pointed out how illogical the switch was. I said back to him, in a matter of fact voice "Well, you could give me the $50 plan for $10", he didn't know what to say... amazingly poor service these overseas calling centers are.

After a half hour on the phone they gave me a gig of data to compensate me for the hassle... but I now have to pay $25 a month to keep the data. The $2 a day plan was perfect, no I idea why the had the Eff with with it. If anyone has any insight, please let us know!

You'll have to pay more than $25 a month. You also have to pay five dollars a month minimum to extend the expiration date for data and add a minimal amount of data. They have updated the plans page.

Data Packages
Access the Web, email, Facebook®, social networks, and more! Data packages are available with the $50 Unlimited Monthly Plan and the $25 Monthly Plan.

Smartphone users must purchase a data package with an eligible plan to use data/Web services.

New data amounts!

$25 for 1 GB
$15 for 200 MB
$5 for 50 MB

Basically in comparison to the other plans out there they have said that they don't want smart phones on their prepaid plans.

I am completely hating this change. I just found out today when I tried to keep my unused data. I was gonna add the 5$ data plan to my unused 400MB and I had to buy the 25$ plan. I am a very light user: 20 minutes talk time, 100 MB data, and free unlimited google voice texting. I averaged about 12-18$ a month and now I'm being forced to spend at least 30$. I'm seriously contemplating using straight talk now.

T-Mobile Monthly4G. $30 a month. If you're in an area with UMTS1900 and have an unlocked iPhone you're golden. Sadly, I'm not in an area with T-Mobile at all or I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. Possibly even for EDGE... possibly. It's just too big of savings NOT to consider.

T-Mobile has refarmed 1900 in only a few locales. Extremely, extremely limited. Hence why there is no "map" showing said areas. Chances are high you are not in such an area.

EDGE is slow as hell. It's fine for email and web searches but anything beyond that will become frustrating as all hell. Then again, $30 a month for 5GB is a damn good offer. If you can even use the 5GB on EDGE to begin with :D

Ok I think I did read something about TMo reclaiming spectrum in some areas. I thought they said some parts of California maybe northern?

You'll have to query around but I believe it is very small portions of 4 or 5 states. California and Nevada are two of them, I recall that.

Now supposedly T-Mo is going to refarm most of the network by 2013 sometime but I would not be holding my breath on that. Where I am, the T-Mobile provider only recently (like in the last 6 months) "upgraded" from GPRS to EDGE!

they gave you 1GB/$25/month without the added $25 or $50 voice plan?

Hey just wanted to point out something not mentioned anywhere. I'm on the Smartphone 10c/min plan, well I can purchase any of the new data plans. I just added the $5 50 MB Plan. I guess people with this plan weren't effected. Check your accounts if you're on this plan also you might be in luck and don't switch out of it.
