So, how long until we get a VoiceTime? As in FaceTime but without the video, meaning voice over data. Any predictions?

It's already here :) Just make a FaceTime call, and after the call is connected, just go back to home screen or turn the display off. This will pause the video. It is what I do all the time actually :D

just started working on my iPhone 5 (unlimted) after a hard reset. started working on my iPad 3 (3gb plan) a few days ago

Working for me on my unlimited plan in NYC. Went to the Cellular section to flip the FaceTime switch and it was already on, interestingly. Tried it with my father, it worked perfectly. If it sticks, call me an officially satisfied AT&T customer. Took long enough to get here, but the service in NYC on LTE has been fantastic and even with a family plan with 4 iPhones (2 on 200mb plans, one 3gb, and my unlimited) and my FAN discount, our bill is only $215 total.

Man am I glad I never switched to a tiered plan given that FaceTime calls suck up about 5MB per minute! (call log shows amount of data used per FT call once call is completed)

The data rate is dependent upon how much movement there is in your video. And enjoy EDGE speeds when you use too much data! I'd rather pay the $10 overage to keep fast speeds.

This is not true for unlimited everything plans. I just called AT&T and they said I would have to change my plan to use hotspot or FaceTime.

Stop posting false information.

I have an unlimited plan and it is working for me.

no Dice…turned the phone upside down and did a jig. Still no bueno.

That usually works for me. When i ask my brother for tech help he recommends putting my index finger on the top of my head and spinning around. Hasn't helped any yet but I think he likes the mental image. You don't suppose I'm too trusting? At least i'm generous, sharing this tip with everyone here…

Interesting, noticed this morning that my iPhone 5 was only showing access to the old Edge Network. I shut down the phone and rebooted to see if this would work, but had no luck. I have a grandfathered unlimited plan in Omaha, NE.

For those that it's working for what version of Carrier settings are you showing? I'm showing AT&T 13.0. Look under Settings>General>About and post what it says next to Carrier.

iPhone 5 with grandfather unlimited plan.

Hard reset, didn't work.

Turned off and turned back on, didn't work.

Reset network settings and FaceTime magically turned on, however I couldn't use my data for anything else at all. Safari, Facebook, nothing.

Didn't have anyone to FaceTime at the moment so I didn't test it to see if it would actually work.

iPhone 5 w/ Unlimited Data here in Portland and, after multiple restarts (both methods) I still can't activate cellular facetime calls - just get the blue box to call ATT.

I'm probably overly hopeful but could someone who has unlimited data and working facetime over cellular attempt to enable personal hotspot? I'm curious to see if that suddenly works as well

I'm in Portland, OR, and no change...yet Fingers crossed

Joplin, MO, iphone 5, unlimited plan, no facetime over cellular. Tried hard resets, reboots, reset network settings.

iPhone 4S in NorCal/Sacramento Area: Success

After seeing the article this morning, I rebooted my phone. Checked the settings, and by default, FaceTime over cellular was checked off.

I certainly wouldn't say this is a gift by AT&T, but rather a way to avoid issues with the FCC. So, thank you people that pushed the issue. Now, if we can just get tethering to work, I think AT&T will be on par with everyone else.

Time to catch up and keep customers.

iPad 3 - No go in Syracuse, NY

Tried it with my iPad 3, grandfathered unlimited.

No go here. I get the contact AT&T message.

I'll keep trying.

Working!

Rebooted my grandfathered unlimited iPhone 5 last night, and upon reboot facetime over cellular was turned on! Tested and it works! I'm in Washington DC. Thanks AT&T!
