Interesting. You'd expect the phone to be smart enough to automatically switch to GSM/EDGE when 3G isn't available. Someone dropped the ball on this!

Yep! It's rather ridiculous how it won't transition on its own.
A lot of my friends have Androids which don't have the option to switch between 2G/3G so they were sitting without service for a while.

Well, I think it's working now. (that's what I heard). My phone is on Edge+WiFi so I'm not sure ... (i don't know where it is right now lol)
