pretty consistent the last 2 weeks:

iphone 4
down: 1800-2200 kbps
up: 94-97 kpbs

i have no idea what is was before that though

Oooh Oooh perhaps O2 could jump on that one as well to explain their continued appalling 3G coverage throughout the UK. Still At least we get priority notice for gigs at the O2 Arena ...............Doh !

Nice job AT&T

Addressed the issue head on and making a real correction. No excuses. No bandaids. Just timely communications and a timely fix. Good for them.

I am getting 2mb down and about 1-2 mb up...They fixed something because I was only getting about 10% of the upload speed a week ago;)

Im in queens NY

I hope the software update effects both up and download speeds as it seems like my 3 day old iPhone 4 is much worse than my 3GS. I can't compare as the old one no longer is on a 3G network but major slowdown. Would see 800 to 3.5 down and usually 250 to 500 up and now it's rare to hit 500kbps down and 30 to 50 up.

Ive tested it in a dozen different spots here in the KC metro area, over a 20 square mile area with no luck of a "good" spot.

Still slow in Minneapolis, MN

I live in the Minneapolis area and have been testing data speeds roughly daily. I'm getting capped speeds on my iPhone4, on a 3G and on my wife's 3GS.

I've been really disappointed with AT&T for the last month. Uploads are way slower than they need to be. I had one day where my upload was 19, another where it was 198kbps, but generally its been between 60-90kbps - on all our phones.

If this was an apple problem and they said something like this it would be rated positive.

Well, if we were able to do some research, it would be very interesting to find out how many test units Apple provided AT&T prior to iPhone 4 launch and to see how much of a chance AT&T had to test various network equipment setups.

It is not hard to believe that AT&T had very limited testing time before Apple decided to sell a few million phones around the country and therefore not able to identify an issue like this.

On July 1st, my iPhone 4's upload speeds dropped from 1500Kbps to 100Kbps or less. This morning, it's 64Kbps, so the issue is not fixed in my area yet.

BTW, the 3GS is limited to 384Kbps uploads no matter what AT&T's network is doing. The iPhone 4 is capable of 5.8Mbps uploads no matter what AT&T's network is doing.
