Well I did it. Gave up my 2 unlimited lines and converted to unlimited everything family plan. Saved approximately 30.00 by doing it, but I also added my cellular iPad pro to the plan for an additional 40.00. Crazy, but whatever.
If you don't want unlimited on your ipad, you can have it set with a 1gb limit for $10 instead of $40, at least that what they told me at the AT&T store.

So I upgraded my phone over the holidays. A few days after the letter arrived at my house (I was away at my folks when it came).

When I called AT&T to inquire about canceling, the rep told me I'd be on the hook for the etf because I upgraded after the announcement. The letter doesn't give that stipulation, but wev I guess. I was polite but expressed disappointment.

He put me on hold for a few minutes and came back on to say they were crediting me the cost of the price hike over the 22 months of my contact. He offered this without any prompting on my part. It seemed like a good faith gesture and I took it. I had been looking forward to getting a plan that allowed tethering, but I'll live.

I am going to start taking advantage of my 22 or 23 GB I get a month. I already discovered that my "download high quality music over cellular" feature needed to be turned on. Help me out guys, what other (legal) ways can I get my money's worth? ;)

Oh nice, was that just someone from the regular customer service or did you speak to someone from the retentions / cancellation dept?

You were not notified, technically you can be out of the contract. Send them a billing dispute and they have no choice, but to put you on month-to-month

t mobile is no offering 4 lines unlimited for $150, that plus no etf from att I think means its time for t mobile...just hope it doesn't suck as bad as everyone seems to say it sucks

If I were you I test it first. I'm testing it right now.Not as good as Att.

Depends where you are and if you travel too. I'm in NYC. My wife and I switched last week and have seen zero difference other than our bill going down $25 a month. We haven't left the city yet - so I can't speak to coverage in the other areas we might visit (regularly or on vacation)

NYC is good, same as MA and CT . North East is pretty covered. PA and NJ are also getting better. There is some rumors that they jst bought LTE 12 for Albany, NY.

T-mobile is not as good as Att, but I rather switch and save , I have had T-mo for a while for int. travel, I think it is time to have one provider instead of two. I can easily save the cost of Att.

I drive between Boston and NYC regularly. T-Mobile's service is pretty lackluster across the major highways in our area, especially 90, 84, and then Route 15.

Why is it that AT&T (and Verizon) can maintain 100% LTE across that entire trip, yet TMo drops down to HSPA or 2G. It's quite evident on Merrit Parkway.

Few weeks ago, I drove from NYC to Foxwoods by Mystic, CT. Once you get off 95 (towards Foxwoods), T-Mobile's service was basically non-existent until you get closer to the complex. AT&T/Verizon? LTE the entire way, even in the super rural areas.

Thanks. This is what I said it is not as good as Att. Thanks for Merrit Parkway. I use it more than 95 now. Last time I was on Att there, no problems at all.
Whatever route you get with Att here in the area it is LTE.

Yesterday I lost T-mobile on the top of the Tobbin bridge! :)
The day before yesterday I couldn't make a call near Prudential building.
Logan airport Terminal B is very bad.
Cape Cod was really was really bad, Now it is better.

I know T-mo is not as good, but it is enough for me. I'm usually in big cities and I'm covered. I tested my house again, our job spots, they are good.
I don't want to pay for 2 companies anylonger, so my choice is T-mobile.
The more important for me that I have fast speed internet in Toronto, Canada and great roaming in Europe. With Canada for me T-mobile has a better coverage. I switch mainly because of it.

I don't trust J.Legere's, he is too educated to behave like a next door man. The only lack in his education is a "street" education, I grew up in poverty on the street and he cannot "buy" me ;-). I don't know why people make a "God" from him. Are they going to prey him soon? :) Anyway he is a wise guy, he is very wise guy.

Att gave me nothing for my roaming. In opposite as a payment for my loyalty they increased my price and stopped subsidy.

I always say , test it before you switch.

May I ask you, do you have LTE 12 phone with T-mobile?

P.S.
T-mobile in Lynn, MA is not usable at all. It was a pleasure to mesure speed on 2 iphones right in front of shelter at 8 pm. :)
I tried 4g , was not usable at all. I tweeted J.L. under the post with his VZW ball games.

It doesn't change anything for me, but this is how it is.

So far no probs in places I frequent the most. Been on tmobile for a few weeks now.
Happy with the switch.

It happends with every network. Lynn, MA is not the best city and people use T-mobile there or Metro PCS (majority of corse on free phones from the gvmnt. :))
I twitted J.L. , T-force answered in 1 minute, they really try to help. I do believe they will send a crew to the city.

I know that T-mo is not as perfect as Att, but grows fast and it is ok with me.

P.S. You should see all the people from shelter when I measured speed on iPhones and twitted T-mo team :) I grew on the street, all of them are brothers for me. :)
This is the speed I usually have:

Nice work bro.
Seems like tmobile cares and works on growing and improving their network.
And with this surge of new customers switching over they will keep expanding their coverage and sneak up on Verizon and AT&T.
We all need competition like this instead of the previous price fixing that was going on between Verizon and AT&T.
Having other options is great.

They already investigated the area and sent me a message that it is a congested area. They going to work there.

I guess we all value different things. I'm not ok with mediocre coverage to save a few bucks every month.

Att gave me nothing for my roaming. In opposite as a payment for my loyalty they increased my price and stopped subsidy.

But no company values loyalty anymore. Look at Verizon. They increased their unlimited plan significantly more than AT&T, yet people are up in arms over a measly $5 increase.

T-Mobile doesn't even value loyalty. They increased their unlimited plan cost by disguising it under BingeOn. Why doesn't anyone talk about that?

P.S.

Haha, I have no reason to go to that dump ever.

Thanks for heads-up though!

"Haha, I have no reason to go to that dump ever." I drove thru, but agree it is not the best place to live at all. Nice adventure BTW. :)

T-mobile is down now completely. I cannot make/receive any calls. 611 is busy. It was the best day so far , nobody couldn't reach me.

I don't know what to do now.

Update: this is "just" VOLTE (I wish Rootmetrics use it today ) and vowifi, 4G works, but I didn't know about all of this the whole day.

They're experiencing some outages.
Heard AT&T is also having issues and working on repairing service in the northeast.

Typical TMobile. Poor reliability.

They always seem to have outages, unlike Verizon or AT&T.

Edit: I'm not sure I'd call Lynn an adventure lol :)

Sorry, was not reading this thread lately, what is the best way to go about to ask for contract cancellation and number porting if I already received price hike on UDP?
